was Illyria part of W & H's master plan?

There is a theory out on the blogs (maybe you are aware of it) that claims that W & H orchestrated Illyria's return to this world via Knox. This would be in keeping with 'After the fall' (apparently) where it is learned that W & H may have even orchestrated the demise and sacrifice of the circle of the black thorn to speed up the apocalypse (where Angel unknowingly helped things move along when he thought he was stopping it). But where did Illyria fit in all of that? Evidence is lacking that Illyria's sarcophagus appearing at the LA branch was planned as well. She seems to have been the wild card...but I don't know. I'll be returning to the critical episodes soon, but what do you think?

I think the senior partners are not stupid and seem to be one of the few just like the PTB that are keeping tabs on everything. YOU think that the sarcophagus of one of the great ones of the old ones would disappeared without the senior partners knowing it?. I think they might had brought Nox to WR&H for exactly that. I think the Senior Partners and the PTB are playing a chess match with everything, and maybe there are others groups and individuals involved

@janas

I mean some people think that Illyria coming back was orchestrated by Wolfram and Hart, and some people think it was not. In the second camp would be people who think it was an accidental confluence of events, a coincidence, and some people who think other forces were involved (fate itself, the powers that be, etc.). If Illyria's return was planned, as some people think, than I fail to see how her return benefitted the senior partners or helped move the apocalypse along (maybe she was that extra muscle the fang gang needed to defeat the circle of the black thorn, which the senior partners had committed to sacrificing?). Then of course there was Hamilton's reaction. Or maybe the ptb was involved, on behalf of the good guys (maybe they could anticipate Illyria's cooperation after seeing the future).
Or maybe as Jom suggests both the PTB AND the Wolfram and Hart reached for the same piece (Illyria) and both forces saw a need for Illyria to be resurrected and involved!!!

I dont think the goal was to resurrect Illyria. Certainly not at that time. It was just an accident.

If it was orcastrated by W&H then it kinda backfired big time. They couldn't control Illyria in any way, it was only Wesley that stopped her from exloding and taking out the entire branch. And in AtF she undid the while 'casting LA into Hell thing' that the senior partners had a hand in.

Maybe they screwed up like they did when they ressurected Darla (which apparently was Jasmine's doing anyway. 🙄) and then she went on to slaughtered most of special projects...

I find it hard to believe that W&H would bring Illyria back just so she could side with Angel and his friends in opposing them.

And as for Angel's motivation in taking out the Circle Of The Black Thorn, he himself described it as a suicidal gesture, with no hope of any degree of success. If anything, his actions sped up the apocalypse, not stopped or delayed it.

I doubt they would have orchestrated Illyria's return. It was Knox because he was devoted to her and worshiped the very ground Illyria walked on. The doctor (forgot his name) who gave Gunn the brain upgrade also participated in the resurrection. The Senior partners didn't want Illyria around as it is stated by Hamilton that they are not fond of old ones. Hamilton himself avoided Illyria until she was depowered and told Angel that Illyria was his problem.
