Was it careless to team up with Spike?

Was Buffy careless when she teamed up with Spike in the final battle of season 2? He could abuse her trust to put her into a trap!
Or was he a necessary warrior for her to beat up Angelus?

It was no more careless on Buffy's part than it was on Spike's to team up, on the old principal, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Either one could have betrayed the other at any time, but a certain amount of gut feeling, instinct, and just plain desperation on both their parts made what could well have been a total disaster work, and it also foreshadowed, though probably only I and a few other very astute fans actually noticed it at the time, the fantastic partnership that was to come only a few years later.

I wouldn't say careless, but risky. I mean, once he got out of the deal what he wanted - Dru - he left Buffy for dead. Had she not of had every other allie down the team up never would have happened, so it was a circumstantial risk rather than carelessness. If she didn't have suspicions about teaming up with him that would've been careless.

She didnt have much choice. They both were working towards the same goal, stopping angelus. I think she made the right decision.

It was kind of careless because it totally could've been a trap but...she was probably thinking that at the moment, she really didn't have a better option. It worked out in the end so whoo hoo, go careless Buffy! 😀
