Okay, for the past like 3 months I've been trying to figure out whether it was wrong or right for Wesley to take Connor.
He was trying to save Connor and everyone else from evil Angel, but the thing was he didn't tell anyone what was going on. But he might have been trying to keep everyone from worrying, even though they were kind of blind not to realise that something was wrong.
And hadn't he yelled at Gunn for keeping information from him? But that was also because it put all of them in danger. 😕
On the other hand, Angel has made countless mistakes, and they still love and trust him. "Ooooh, poor Angel and his tortured soul," they're thinking. But Wesley has a tortured soul, too!!!! I think he deserves forgiveness. This whole show basically centers around the concept that they're all like family and they care about eachother so much. Where the hell did that idea go?
So what do you think?

i thin that idea went away with the concept of, yopu dont kidnap youre family and put parents through tht kind of worry and pain
poor wesley
but the annoying thing is, that if the prophecy had been true theyd all be like, ooh wesley youre so fabulous you did the right thing
but becasuse its dodgy theyre all uppity about it
i dont think what he did was right though
which is really weird cause im always WOOO WESLEY so i dont like it at all

i guess we'lll just have to see what happens

yep i think wes was way right to take conner, he really believed in the prophecy and had both conner and angels best interests at heart. even thouh angel didn't see it at the time! i thik angel should some time forgive wes or is the way wes .............leaves?

Well, given the fact that Angel killed his own sister, father, mother, uncle, aunt, etc...what would make him stop from killing his own son? I mean he even killed Drusilla's family, and so forth. Besides, I think that Angel has a lot of redemption to do for all the stuff that he was done to everybody when he was Angelus. Secondly, Wesley--being Wesley--was just doing what he thought the prochecy told him. Furthermore, I think that everyone is still a little bit hesitant when they are around Angel...even Gunn when he told Fred that if Angel every came after her, he would stake dead-boy in a second.

Don't feel bad, Katie2, I felt the same way at first.
I even hope Wes gets a can of whoop-ass opened up on him soon, because I don't want thim to go evil, which he probably will!!!!!
Then I want AI to make him come back. 🙂

I think there are a lot of shades of gray regarding Wesley's involvement in Connor's kidnapping.

First, you have to remember he was hardly getting any sleep from the time he translated the false prophecy until the kidnapping, which seriously impairs the judgement.

He definitely should have talked to someone about the prophecy, but it might have been hard to take anyone at Angel Investigations into his confidence, since AI is really *about* Angel. (Lorne might have made a good choice, though.)

And I think what really caused his total isolation afterwards was that he couldn't *talk*, couldn't explain his fears, his feelings, his *side*, until well after Angel (understandably) attacked him, and all the lines were drawn in the sand (cement?).

i don't know, really. he totally believed he was doing the right thing, after all, he also cares about connor. the only thing that was kind of cloudy for me was the dealing with justine and holtz. ::nono::

I just didn't like the fact that Wesley visited Holtz and his clan twice behind everyone's back. If Wesley couldn't trust Angel because of the prophecy, he should have atleast told Cordelia, Gunn, Lorne or Fred. They would have helped him and came up with a more logical decision rather than to lie to everyone.

I really don't think Wesley should have taken Connor. I know Angel killed his family-but wait, no, that was Angelus! Wesley just shouldn't have gone behind Angel's back like that. It was wrong! I still think they should forgive Wesley, because that would just make me happy and they could all be together again! LOL But who would forgive someone for taking your son away? My point really is that Wesley just should have trusted Angel enough to know that he would never kill his own son, even if the prophecy predicted it. 😀

you're forgetting that angel was being fed his sons blood and starting to act very odd at the time .wesley also obviously has very little faith in fathers.if wolfram and harts plan had worked maybe he would've ended up killing his son.wesley had been increasingly isolated at AI with cordelia away, fred and gunn breaking his heart and angel acting odd.
if angel doesn't forgive wesley how can he expect forgiveness himself.bye bye shanshu.wesley made a mistake but acted in connors best interests.if anybody in AI had been a true friend they would have forgiven him and helped him through it

In addition to Connor "smelling like food" thanks to Wolfram & Hart's machinations, what about the curse? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Angel's having just "one moment of true *happiness*" -- not specificially *romantic* happiness -- cause his curse to kick in? Maybe Wesley was afraid that the happiness of *fatherhood* would turn Angel into Angelus.

That's a good point. About the curse, I mean.

In reply to Charles Gunn, I never forgot any of those things you mentioned. I know Wesley believed what he was doing was right, but I just think he was wrong to stop communicating with everyone. Despite that, I still do think that Angel should forgive Wesley, since he was acting in what he thought was Angel;s best interest. 🙂

*SPOILER*

I recall reading somwhere on the board that Wesley will work with the gang again, and though it won't be easy, Angel will slowly forgive him.

I think I agree with a lot of people on this thread that Wesley's intentions were good, but his not confiding in in his friends was a bad judgement call. In terms of the story line, I guess it's supposed to be his "fatal flaw" or "fatal mistake".

I can also understand (although not *like*) Angel being so unforgiving; his pain about his son is a major deal and *not* rational.

My problem is with the other AI people. They didn't have to totally abandon him once Angel made his feelings clear (although they would have had to be discreet). They never even gave him a chance to tell his side.

I totally agree. I think I was trying to say alot of this stuff all along, I'm just not so good at wording it, LOL. 😀

I don't think they should have just abandoned him like that. I know Fred wants to forgive, but why doesn't she do something about it?! Maybe she's scared he won't forgive her, but I think he'd love it if she said she was sorry.
And, Wes didn't only save Connor, he thought he was saving everyone else, too. There was a chance that Angel could have gone evil or something, and killed them all, and he wasn't going to just sit around and let that happen to the people he loves.
Also, they all think he let Holtz take Connor to that other dimension. Remember when Justine slit his throat? She took Connor against Wes's will, while he lay helpless on the ground, dying.
But I don't think they'll ever forgive him for meeting Holtz behind their backs.

i have this new theory which is new to me but prolly not to all of you
but he was tryna do it all by himself to prove that he didnt need any of them
you know, like 'ooh im a big strong brave man and i can save the world even if i didnt get the girl, and once ive saved the world itll be way easier to get said girl and kick gunn out of AI' use your imaginations make it all proper and add a guy drinking tea with a british accent
mmmm british accent *focus*

so i think he was trying to do the right thing
but really it was for the wrong reasons
he was being all secretive to keep stuff from gunn and fred so that he was special too
