I don't know, I was getting impressions of fear, contlict, and severe burn-out from Wes, rather than thwarted ego (although we all have our egos to deal with). I do think the Fred/Gunn thing may have made him feel more isolated from the rest of the group.
I don't think the AI group thought Wesley had actively helped Holtz take connor to the hell dimension, but Connor would have been much harder to get at if Wes hadn't taken him from the hotel.
In any case, I thought it was uncalled for how Wesley suddenly became persona non grata for *all* of AI after Angel attacked him, when before there was a lot of concern, even after piecing together was he'd done. So sheep-like.
