Was Jenny's chase scene + death inspired by Helen's death in I Know What You Did Last Summer?

I was watching "Passion" recently and Jenny's chase scene with Angelus was very similar to Helen's chase scene in "I Know What You Did Last Summer", was that an homage or something?

I would not think so as there were not much time between the two, but you never know. I do not recall either scene well enough to think they were similar.

Helen's in IKWYDLS was one of the best chase scenes in a horror movie. I was really disappointed when Scream 4 came out and there wasn't really anything like it because I always thought they were a staple of Scream/IKWYDLS/those kind of movies.

I see the resemblance with Jenny's death scene but I don't think it was deliberate. One of the best scenes in Buffy's 7 seasons though.

I doubt it, there have been lots of chase scenes like that in horror films or even TV. Its an effect scene because of the twist at the end of it, but more because of the emotion connected to it.
