Was Kennedy right in Guarded?

I don't think so. If she focused more on the little guys then who would be the one to step up and make the hard decisions that needed to be made to save the world?

As their leader, its easy for Kennedy and all the others to point their fingers at Buffy and blame her. None of the others have ever hand that pressure or responsibility put on them. That being said there were times, mainly s7 with the potentials, that she could have noticed the little guy more.

Not at all. Buffy's job is protecting the world That mans that sometimes the little guy falls through the cracks. If Kennedy wants to help the helpless, she needs to join Angel's team. Buffy's team stops apocalypses.
 
Yes and no.

Buffy should be saving the world, but she doesn't mind overlooking the little guy to get there, Angel focuses on the little guy and ends up saving the world.
 
Buffy is right to look at the big picture. As long as she doesn't fall into the trap Angel did, and start thinking that if 1,000 people die to save 1,001 it's somehow a victory. Every person is an individual with a life, a family, friends... and not just a digit in a math equation labelled "greater good."

I think last season when Buffy chose not to go along with the Twilight apocalypse, she proved that she has plenty of consideration for the little guy.
 
Pre-Season 7 Buffy protected the little guy. But she does tell Giles in season 7 that if forced to have to choose between the world and her sister she would choose the world.
 
I think Buffy HAD to look at the bigger picture in s7. They were at war, and war is not won by thinking of the small guys. Plus, I still think she had enough consideration for the potentials, but truth is she had to train them, she had to get them ready for what was to come. They weren't her friends, they were her army, and she had to draw that line. That doesn't make her a good leader, but it makes her what a leader has to be in times like that. Plus, Buffy offered those girls protection, so to me she was still taking care of them. Killing around 20 girls to save millions is a choice that was pretty simple for Buffy in my opinion. It's very sad for those girls, but unfortunately the bigger picture is more important.
