Was life calmer for Buffy when she told her mom about the slaying?

Do you think after Buffy told Joyce about her secret life as the Slayer, made her life a little calmer for her now that Joyce knew?

It made it a bit easier and less stressful for Buffy probably. She proved to her mother how strong she was and that she could take care of herself. And also showed her that she wasn't out late at night doing naughty teen things (drinking, sexing) but instead being a very responsible slayer. 😛

Of course her mother made it a bit hard on her because she wasn't sure how t handle it all at first, but atleast Buffy didn't have to keep lying about things and holding secrets (which is always stressful)

I would say it calmed down, too. No more lying and making excuses, no more sneaking out of the house, no more trying to explain all the crazy stuff that was always happening. And like WWGD said, her mom stopped thinking she was a complete delinquent.

I don't know that it was necessarily calmer, but I know it was a weight off her shoulders knowing she didn't have to lie to her mom anymore. I think her telling her mom was symbolic. I think they were trying to show teenagers that the world isn't going to end if you open up to your parents and tell them the secrets you've been keeping, even if it feels like life and death.

Excellent observation.
I agree with everyone above.

Joyce annoyed me so much because of her ignorance and attitude towards Buffy being out late(me having mom problems of my own at the time didn't help). I knew she was only being a good mom, but I was still very annoyed. So when she found out, and she and Buffy seemed to get closer, and open up, I started to like Joyce. It was nice to see a new phase in their relationship.

The season 5 moments, when Joyce had serious talks with Buffy about her desease and Dawn were precious. They really stood out to me. There was a deep connection and it was wonderful to see how Joyce saw and pointed out how Buffy had grown from a girl to a woman. I think I knew that already, but seeing Joyce treat Buffy as a adult really made me realize how far they've both come.
