Was Marcie Ross a wasted gem?

Do you think Marcie from "Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight" should have been brought back in further episodes or explored more?
Personally I think her character was an underrated gem that would've been interesting to look at more.
 
It might have been interesting to see what became of her (was there a mention if her in season 8? I can't remember). I didn't really feel the need to have another episode about her though. She wasn't a favorite of mine.

But on topic - it may have been cool to have her mentioned during the s4 government stuff, or at least a throwaway line about the success of the department of re-programmed magical beings. Marcies new training seemed A better way to use the supernaturally affected than chopping them up and zapping them for compliance.

Would have been cool to have Clea in the cast. There would have been a lot they could have done with such a good actress rather than just a one-off episode.
 
Yes! I don't really like the actress, but the whole idea and lay-out was very interesting. The school for special kids she goes to... there were stories there they could've visited even if Marcie wasn't a part of it herself. Maybe during season 4, instead of Adam, Marcie or people like her could've been connected to the Initiative. Makes more sense then having a small military operation consisting of regular college kids like Riley?
 
I'm not sure if she was a "gem" but she was one of the most interesting one-off characters. That ending with the government was particularly enticing and full of possibilities. The show explored a bit the idea of the government being aware of the supernatural in season 4, and perhaps Marcie - or someone like her - could've been used. Or, perhaps a follow-up episode in season 2 or something with Marcie could've been cool! Brooklyn Nine-Nine, for example, has an episode each season with a beloved recurring character, Doug Judie, so something like that - similar to what they did with Ethan Reigns - could've been an interesting avenue to explore.

However, I'm satisfied with that one episode. Like, @Taake said, the actress wasn't fabulous.

The actress was quite popular at the time. I remember wondering if she would stay on cast as it she seemed a big name just for a once off. I recognised her from many things around the time of buffy, unlike other unknowns (to me) on the buffy cast.

I always thought she was more popular after Buffy, when she started being in a lot of teen movies and shows? She hadn't done that much before Buffy. But I guess that depends on when one watched the show too. I've never really liked her in anything though, guess something just rubs me the wrong way about her.
 
Buffy didnt air here until 1997, I'd already seen the actress in at least one supernatural role before I saw Buffy. She has had a better career after, like Wentworth 😀
 
I'm not a huge fan of Out of Mind, Out of Sight. Don't really care for Marcie. I like the call back in season 7. They could have done something with the government ending. But there's lots of stuff set up in season 1 that they didn't follow through with.
 
She was a wasted gem because of how good the actress became. Having her back would have been a good thing because of that. But I don't know if there's much more they could have done with the character.
 
I think the idea was a wasted gem. There were 2 instances in the early seasons having to do with shady government. The whole invisible assassins in this episode, and then the black suits in WML. Both of these subplots would have been perfect to reintroduce in season 4 Instead of the lame Adam plot. A missed opportunity in my opinion

I thought the guys in What's My Line were supposed to be from Microsoft?

Out of Mind, Out of Sight is probably my least favorite Season 1 episode, so I wouldn't have been excited to get more Marcie. The concept is an interesting one, but I didn't like where they went with it.
 
I felt bad for Marcie but she was a little too unhinged ( like wanting to give people the Glasgow smile unhinged ) - for her to have ever been a scooby member...

I mean I know Willow eventually flayed Warren and Xander may have been responsible for numeroud cases of spontaneous combustion but that was years later... 😉

I felt bad for her, but she went about things the wrong way. That's one of the cool things about Buffy as a show that it doesn't make these characters heroic (like how Jonathan isn't let off lightly in Earshot).

Think one more appearance from Marcie could have been good. They could have done a deal where she proves she has learnt the error of her ways and in return Willow does a spell to bring her back.
