Was Oz a boring Character?

I love Oz, everything he does is great.. Whenever he says something longer than four words, it is something he has really thought about. Like when he tells Willow how he thinks about kissing her, when he is in class not paying attention. What he says isn't the biggest thing, but the way he says it and the words and everything.. I just love it.
I was sad that he left, but Tara is so much better with Willow, so I'm glad he did..
 
Oh...in 'Earshot', I love this line...
Xander says to Oz, "Yeh, you almost made an expression there."
Oz "I won't lie...I felt one coming on."

Sorry...thought that was classic Oz.
aw...Oz. How I do miss him...everythign he says...thats what makes OZ. It ain't much..but it's Oz. Simple, to the point. He takes the most complex idea and states it in one line.

Yeah I know. He had som great lines. he always had something funny or meaningfull to say. I miss him to!
 
A bit of "Behind of the scenes" info here;

Oz was always designed to be the inner-broody, cool guitar guy. By the end of season 3, it became obvious things couldn't continue with Oz in this way as the character - however 'cool' - was simply 'used'. So, a full story line was planned for him in Season 4 of Buffy. A good one.

What happened? A movie studio offered Seth a bunch of money for movies, and he left. The story was rewritten, and Tara was introduced.

Personally, I loved Oz in many places. He was like, that Cool guy we all went to school with, but who wasn't on the soccer team. He played with amps instead.

And, you know, I can't see the episode "Fear Itself" without Oz, myself. 🙂
 
I loved Oz, and I think Seth Green is a great actor. I was so sad when he left, not only because he wasn't on the show anymore, but the hurt that irradiated off of Willow. I prefer Willoz to Tillow (nothing against lesbians) for the fact that I like Seth better than Amber. But to each his (or her) own 😀
 
i thought oz was very amusing. And i agree with Cordelia, i liked willow with oz. i mean, tara later on you grow to like her alot but when i watch the past episodes you see how much oz really loves her and it was sad to see he loose it when he 'smelt' willow 'all over tara' in new moon rising.

A little sad though I love Tara and I'm so glad she was in the show and with Willow..
 
I think the Veruca and Oz story was meant to be season long, so its kinda good he left as I didn't like Veruca.

I can't say I favored Willoz over Tillow. I guess it just took me a while to get used to Tillow. Not because Tara was a girl, but because I was still hoping Oz would come back. And Veruca definately didn't seem like she would've been on Oz's radar screen had she not been a wolf. She just seemed to eager to give in to her animal instincts (no pun intended). Way out of character for Oz.
 
Oz? Boring? Oz is the man, man! Oz was just one of those characters there for flavoring, and he was funny and a sweetheart (hetero male saying "sweetheart"? It MUST be true!)!
 
any guy who gives points for use of the word mosey, says things like 'where willow goes, so goes my nation', over a room full of his friends, is a good character in my book, he's the best boyfriend that Willow could have wanted and he had great interaction without wordy banter, he was a writers dream!
 
I loOoOoved Oz!

He was so frickin' awesome! Funny without trying to be, and just all around a great well rounded character.

I for one never thought Oz was boring. He was always cool and sophisticated. but then he had stayed back senior year and all. I thought it rocked the way he thought before he spoke and never said anything lame. I was dissapointed that he didn't have more onscreen time actually. and I was angry when he left the show in the later season...Anyways Oz Rocked and not just because he was in a band. :band:
 
i thought oz was an amazing character, he's certainly one of my favorites. he is one of the strongest characters in the slayerverse and there is so much underneath the surface, it makes him evenmore special. there are characters that are like an open book, and on the other hand ther are characters that are a mystery, but worth so much more than the previous type. - that's oz. and the guy has proven himself so many times over and over again, he in definitely not to be undertstimated.
 
I think the original thread starter is massively missing the point of Oz. The very things he described as being the problems with the character were the exact point of the character!

He wasn't boring at all, he was a very amusing, well written role that brought whole new levels to the meaning of subtle comedy and underemphasis! 😉

Basically he was one of my favourite things about seasons 2, 3 and 4.
 
I could never say that Oz was boring. His character may not have had much to say but that was who Oz was meant to be. He spoke when he saw fit and I think that makes him a very cool and wise character. Some of his lines and the timings are just classic as N4H has already showed us.
 
I thought Oz was a great character, and I loved Oz/Willow. Although Willow/Tara slowly became one of my favorite relationships on the show, it took me awhile because I missed Oz. A lot of my favorite lines on the series came from him. The "Arm." one has been mentioned, but there was many good lines in the otherwise very Xander-ish episode The Zeppo. The whole conversation between Oz and Xander in the cafeteria was hilarious, and one of the lines you might miss if you're not paying attention: Oz's "Oddly full today." when Xander asks the gang if they'd like anything to eat. Oz, of course, had eaten a bad guy as a werewolf, but he wouldn't remember that.
 
I'm not the biggest Oz fan AT ALL... But I don't think that his character was generally boring... To me, the idea of his stoicism was getting boring... I loved him in the earlier seasons... But I was glad to see him go... Not because I hated him... But it was a nice retirement for the Oz character... It was getting pretty bad... I mean, he didn't have much going for him... He was quiet, he played in a band... And he was a werewolf... He didn't really belong anymore... Everyone else was blossoming... In transitions... But he stayed the same... Oz just didn't fit in anymore
 
I personally do not think Oz was boring in season 3, but I did like him better in season 2 'cause I think he was sooo much funnier then.
