Was Sarah sick in "Empty Places"?

Throughout most of Empty Places, Sarah's voice is very weak especially in the teaser when Buffy talks to Clem.
 
Well I don't know I watched it with (the surely) healthy synchron voice, but I could imagine that it was just another point for SMG perfect actress-skills. 🙂
 
I actually think it fits. At this point in the season, she's worn down emotionally and physically and is bound to be feeling stressed. It makes sense for her to be a little under the weather. So I don't think SMG being sick detracts from the episode at all.

Though it's a little odd that the First is suffering the same complaint. 😛

Haha I agree completely. I always felt that it fit because she would be stressed...and her voice sounded like she had laryngitis or something. I just choose to ignore The First's rusty voice. Hmph.

I've always wondered that too! I think it worked well with the episode though. I liked that noone mentioned it either, if someone had it might have fooled the audience to think that something was going to happen with it.
 
We've talked about this before here, and I agree with [MENTION=8100]xaphania[/MENTION] completely; in that season, she was so broken, physically and emotionally that it made sense for her to be physically weakened enough to get sick.

Her voice is very weak in the beginning of "Empty Places", like she's recovering from an illness or something.
 
I couldn't find anything confirmed online, but her voice sounds like the result of a cold or a flu. She did kind of look a bit more pale, I remember. I'm really glad though that they included the scene with her and Clem, that was quite a nice touch.
 
I noticed that too, and wasn't that the same episode where she wore the scarf around her neck, the same as she did once before, when she was trying to cover up Dracula's bite marks? Maybe she was weak from helping Spike recuperate with a little Slayer medicine, and the explanation for some reason was removed from the final cut.

It would make sense, with Spike being her strongest warrior, that she would want him in top form for fighting, especially since it had already been shown a few weeks earlier in "Sleeper" that he had much more control in sampling her blood than another nameless ensouled vampire had.
 
@The Dark Avenger: You brought this same issue up back in February, so I merged your threads.

I still say what I said before: that considering Buffy's emotional and physical state, it made sense for her to sound ill. Whether or not Sarah was sick, it seems fairly obvious that she was at least losing her voice. Whether or not she had an actual illness is to be determined.

Even if she was ill, I think it was a good time for her to sound like that. Just because of how it was quite a sad/depressing episode I guess and it gives that sense of tiredness buffy could have been feeling? Due to loosing a the fight with Caleb and loosing all those potentials that died.
