Worms in my baguette
I've been thinking about the rape scene in 'Seeing Red', reading essays and the like. And it's starting to seem a little OOC on both sides.
For Spike: From everything we've seen, it's shown that Spike moves from mind-numbing sorrow to pure rage. That part is completely in-character for him. But in 'Fool For Love', he was obviously fully prepared to kill Buffy. And he was moved to sympathy by her tears. And in 'Seeing Red' she wailed and screamed, but he didn't even seem to notice.
For Buffy: (Secondary topic, perhaps, but still addressable ((sp?))) Since when is Buffy the damsel-in-distress? Boo-hoo, poor Buffy. The usual Buffy would kick him off and give him a good ass-kicking (gosh, that's repetitive). I guess I may be underestimating how deeply her emotion changes her but it still seems odd to me.
It feels like ME was trying too hard to shove Spuffy into a conventional destructive relationship model. Cause Buffy's been the abuser the whole season, and ME hasn't even seemed to recognized the damage she's doing to Spike, just how he's hurt her. I may be totally off , and if that's true just correct me. But I'd like your views.
