Was Spike even glad that Angelus had returned?

After Angel turned evil (Angelus), he went to see Spike and Drusilla (and then the Judge). And Spike laughes and keeps saying how great this is. Drusilla is happy also, because they can be a family again. Spike seems joyful, but was it just an act? Was he really happy to see Angelus there again? Because afterwards he wishes to kill him, or to get rid of him. He even goes to Buffy, to help her kill him (even if it's for Dru, he still wants him dead).

Was Spike even glad that Angelus was back, was he faking it? Or did he prefer Angel to stay Angel, the Slayer lover, the evil fighter?

I think Spike was putting on an act about the return of Angelus. I think he saw it as that he would have to compete for Drusilla's affection again, which he obviously didn't like throughout season 2. He was obviously concious about losing her to Angelus, as of course he was her sire, meaning she would have more of a pull to him.

I think Spike would have wanted Angel to stay under his gyspy curse, because it meant that out of the 2, he would be known as the bad boy. A title he craves, and uses it to set him apart from Angel who is the 'boring one'.

Yes and no.

Part of him was happy to have his "vampire teacher" or "yoda" back and was probably excited to cause havoc with his old partner in crime.

But, he was also suspicious of Angelus because of how long it had been since the last time they were together. Also, I'm sure he wasn't looking forward to Dru's affection towards Angelus and their constant competition either.

I don't think Spike was ever truly happy to be around Angelus, from the very beginning. Or rather, from the moment he walked in on Angelus and Drusilla. I think Spike was very happy to have a mentor, and a family, so that's what kept him glued to Angelus's heels, and what kept him in line, (more or less; we know he liked to draw too much attention to the gang which bothered Angelus, but Spike basically followed his lead). That need to belong and to have others in his life to which he could grow attached was always in conflict with his true feelings for Angelus. We don't know for sure if Drusilla became more or less monogamous once Angelus left the group, but certainly with Angelus there, Spike couldn't have felt like she was truly "his," and we all know how important that knowledge was to him. So to see Angelus come back? Not good.

I think he was happy at first, but when Angelus started moving in on Drusilla he became angry. And there really wasn't anything he could do about it, and I think that made him angrier.

Took the words right out of my mouth!
I think Spike was happy Angelus returned, but later got angry because all Angelus was doing was pissing off the Slayer even more and hitting on his girl.

I think that Spike was wary about Angelus's return- I mean Angelus did sire Drusilla, and they were always going to have that connection whether Angel was Angel or Angelus, and Spike was kinda jealous of that fact at the time. I think he adored Dru, and he wished that he was the only vamp that Dru had any sort of real connection to, even though Angelus was also Spike's sire (if I remember correctly), I think that Spike wished that there wasn't such a real connection between the two, especially after Angelus was doing the whole one-upmanship thing with him

I think Spike's feelings towards Angelus were decidedly mixed, on the one hand Spike was glad to see that Angel was now on their side (more or less), but he was vary wary of him given Angels history with Dru. To top it off Spike was seriously injured and not truly able to compete with Angelus on an equal measure. I think if Spike had been at full strength, he would have been a lot happier about the whole thing. If only because the last time the two had met Angelus was clearly the dominant one in the group, however with Spike at full strength he would have a lot more say over what the group would do. However, after a little time and seeing how Angelus with Dru, and how was hacking off the Slayer, we was ready to be done with him. Hence allying with Buffy, and fighting to get Dru out.

He was happy because he had another ally but he was pretty annoyed too. He knew he'd have to compete with him for Drusilla's affection...again.

I think Spike was genuinely happy to see "Angelus" in School Hard. Spike and Angel have a history, and despite the tension between them, they love each other. That's obvious.

As for later, in S2 when he's in the chair - no, I don't think Spike was happy to see Angelus, whom was obviously a threat to his relationship with Drusilla.

I think Spike was originally happy for Angelus to be back. I think he thought that it would be like old times but without Darla being there to hold Angelus' interest Angelus turned his attention onto Dru and that's when Spike started to get jealous.
