Was there any actor who hated their character?

The only actors I can think of would be the actress who played Jenny Calendar. I think she became a born-again Christian and disliked her character being brought back as The First evil. Other then that I don't think I've ever heard anyone regret appearing on the show...

... the movie however, pretty sure Donald Sutherland isn't so proud of that or his association with it. 🙂

Your Witch avatar is amazing!
Actually one of my favorite things about the actors is that they all can find things to love about the character and ways to understand them on another level. I don't know that I've ever seen one of them actually dislike themselves.

I’m pretty sure Vincent Kartheiser has said that he was not happy about Connor’s character.

Yeah, I think he complained about the character being so whiny and asked/begged/sacrificed virgins for them to change it... just kidding about the last one, clearly he didn't because they - sadly - didn't listen to him.

Don't know if it would classify as "hated" but Sarah Michelle Gellar often lamented the character in the later seasons saying she no longer understood Buffy's motivations. I do not believe she would pull a Mark Hamill and say she actually hated the character though.

I do feel like some actors are more appreciative of their roles on the shows than others. Sometimes I do feel a little bit bitter about DB's refusal to talk or reference Angel in general when he still seems very attached to Bones and the Bones fan base. I know he says he is one of those people that "looks forward not backward" but I feel like he looks back to Bones alot. I guess that's probably because he was there for so long and also probably because he knows that the Bones demographic is likely going to follow him to his new show so it behooves him to continue to court those fans. He has never said anything negative about the role (of Angel) but I do wonder if he privately didn't like it?

I was actually talking about this earlier today but as one of my friends explained it. DB liked Angel clearly to play his role for so long but it seems David isn't sentimental . He doesn't like to reflect back or look at the past.
I think he did the Buffy reunion to please the Angel fans but I think that's just how he is. As for Bones. That was extremely recent. I bet he'd be connected with Angel if it was so recent.

Yea, and I actually heard that he did it as a personal favor to SMG. But I agree that the fact that Bones just happened definitely has something to do with it.

Bones was also a mainstream show with like double or triple the audience of Angel, and it was on the air while social media was really developing, so he probably has a ton of fans and followers who are Bones fans. I think he’s a little different from some of the other actors in that sense, too.

Now I see that @PaulParmar1 just beat me to this! 😉

Really was the Bones audience that much bigger? I guess it was on a bigger network so that makes sense.

What I do think is funny is the few times he has gone to cons /conventions for Bones he always gets asked about Buffy/Angel because that is where you are more likely to find Buffyverse fans, I think. There was one Bones panel where he was asked about a Buffy reunion and Emily Deschannel rolled her eyes and was like "he's kinda busy right now... on another show..." lol. I thought it was funny.

Making me do my homework, huh? I just looked at Wikipedia and some seasons of Bones got as high as 10-11 million viewers vs. 3-5 million for Angel. I’m sure there are plenty of other factors but it seems like it was quite a bit bigger.

I remember SMG telling a story about how when she booked Buffy, her friends felt sorry for her because it was a genre show on a no-name network. 😛

Do you feel it that way ? Because I don't. I follow him on Twitter and he is always all about "Seal Team" or the hockey ^^

I am sure that if you ran into DB's bedroom in the middle of the night and shouted, "Cordelia is in danger!" he would wake up in character, ready to grab the battle axe.

Proving Angel & Cordelia are not equals since she wouldn't be able to rescue herself or rescue him; I want to hear "Buffy is cookies"

Hum..... 😀😀 I'm sure if someone ran into DB's bedroom in the middle of the night it would not be for talking about Cordelia.. the person will have something else in mind 😛

Realistically ... I would run in with a long wig and my widest smile.

That sounds more like PTSD.... lol.

@Antho he tweeted Merry Christmas with a bones quote a few days ago. So he tweets bones stuff every now and then. But yeah it’s def mostly “wheels up.”

One competitor in less 🙂

It was surely a quote from a Bones's christmas episode. I think it was more for the circumstances and to please fan. And he can't does that with the show Angel because there isn't one christmas episode

I think that is the deal with SMG and DB. They worked so hard for so long. We're talking most of the year for several years in a row. Talking about those years probably brings back memories of endless re shoots of fight scenes. They seem more content with their lives now. That does not mean that there is not a part of them that misses what they did.
