Was this The Mayor's True Form or was it just something he became during the acensions

I wouldn't have thought that was his true form, else why would he have had to ascended and everything? 😛

I think his true form is his human form. He talked about his wife, how she got older while he didn't. And also when they see his photo of him from 100 years ago, they see that he hasn't changed. That makes me believe that he hasn't ever changed, he was always in his human form.

I'd agree, the Mayor was an immortal human. He most likely started out as a normal human then made some devil's bargain render him immortal to pave way for the Ascension.

Well I didn't get the question. He used magic to become this snake-demon didn't he? It was surely not his normal form. He did this ritual!

If the question is, would the Mayor have remained the giant snake/slug/crawly demon thing after the Ascension ritual was over and his ultimate plans had been executed, I seriously doubt it. He mentioned once, I think in the recording that he left for Faith in Season 4, that he expected to be his normal, human self once more. The beast was most likely just a temporary manifestation that would have given him the power to carry out his plans. That, or a form that he could adapt at will, something like the way that Illyria would later be able to shift back and forth between blue haired hell god and normal, bright eyed Fred, but with the added size change capability between shapes.

I've never thought about what the mayors true form could be, but yeah, I think he was some kind of human. 🙂 Aw, I miss the mayor.
