I don't know if I should be posting this, but as its a site that has been up and running for ages, I thought i'd post a link so you can watch Firefly free online.

Note, at this link there are many many many more shows you can watch for free including Family guy, the Simpsons, Southpark, Arrested Development, Lost, Desperate Housewives....the list is quite long and very varied🙂

That site's been around for a few months now. If it was illegal I would think the PTB would be on it by now. Hell they jumped all over the Browncoats for a T Shirt. The guy who offers that site must have found a legal loophole. He could be paying the studios for all I know. That site seems to be connected to a larger commercial one. Internet TV is the wave of the future.

From my point of view it's legal until somebody in power says it isn't, at which point we must abide by the law.

At this point though it's on the open web, so I say it's reasonable to assume it's a legal site.
 
Microsoft is working with some companies to have downloadable movies and TV shows right from the Xbox 360 dashboard, so no need for a remote PC anymore.

As far as I can see the TVLinks site is not illegal in itself, as it only provides a list of links to content hosted on other sites (such as youtube) that may or may not be illegal, depending on where you live or the circumstances in which the content was provided. A case of caveat lector (or whatever the right word is for viewer) I reckon...

And this is the position of the guy behind the second link, I think.

Shen says that TVUPlayer was intended to do nothing more than showcase his P2P TV streaming technology. TV-links was shut down and its owner arrested.

It was just a collection of links to illegal videos. They didn't host anything, but you must agree it's wrong to operate a site that just makes it easier for people to steal.

TV shows like Firefly should be purchased on DVD. You shouldn't donate money to sites like TV-links to keep them running instead of giving money to the people that make these shows.

A friend of mine watched the the entire Simpsons Movie (cam footage taken off a screen) on the internet, while it was still in theatres - which he found thanks to TV-links. These illegal videos eventually get removed from the hosting sites when they are discovered, but TV-links helped people locate hundreds of undiscovered ones.



Yes, proper legal internet tv supported by the networks and paid by advertising, will be cool.

Its still going but under another name, ist different from the old set up but the outcome is still the same
 
Bummer. Oh, and I didn't realise this thread was a year old. I just saw November. Firefly section not used a lot, eh.
 
doesn't look like, I'm pretty much a newbie too, only here a few weeks!
 
What the guy from TVLinks started doing was he hijacked the videos from the video sites and made them appear as if they were coming from his site.

I think the independent linking sites were just part of the revolution. My theory is the studios were using them to build up the market. Now that they know the market exists, they're moving to take viewership over.

You can still find Firefly online from independent sites if you know where to look, but Fox would seem to prefer you didn't. They have their own streaming site now for current stuff. The current trend seems to be to move streaming to official sites. This may be from studio specific sites, or services that have made deals with the networks. I got an email from Veoh the other day saying they were offering CBS's stuff.

Alot of the streaming from official sites can only be accessed from the U.S. though. Which i can understand since Europe is usually a season or two behind the states but it definitely encourages you to look elsewhere.
 
Hahaha...you have a point! do you follow the european leagues? how long are you usually waiting for games?

sorry for the spanish inquisition but I'll be moving to MA next August and I'm having panic attacks about missing Man United!
 
Most of the ManU matches are on the day of. Some you need to go to a pub to see because they will be pay per view, or on Setanta (satellite channel that has the right to most of the good stuff like the Euro). But you can get a lot on the cable channel Fox Soccer Channel, and Champions League is on ESPN2.

How's THAT for an OT post? lol
