Watching Season 6 with parents

Greetings, everyone! Firstly, I haven't reached anywhere near season 6 (my sister and I are still ploughing through season 3), but I have a quick question regarding the sixth season: how many episodes involve steamy sex scenes and how many of those episodes can be effectively skipped without destroying the continuity of the series? Of course, I myself am going to watch the entire series, but (twenty years old though I am) I would prefer to stick to the more soft-core stuff when introducing my parents to this season.... 😉

(Just in case you don't know who she has sex with even if I think you do. Better safe than sorry or something.) so I'll leave that question to them. Or maybe just those who keep track of sex scenes during the show. 😉 But since you're new I just wanted to say hi and :welcome:

either. But I remember which episodes have sex scenes.

Smashed - Only at the end
Wrecked - At the start
Gone - I love to see it as a funny scene
Doublemeat Palace - Not as in naked
Dead Thing - You should totally avoid this episode
As You Were - Nothing much
Entropy - Unexpecting sex scene!

I don't know what other think about it, though. It's only my opinion.

I just have the same problem. I have to avoid sex scenes when my parents are around too. 😉

Eh I just... wouldn't watch it with my parents at all, as they are very, uhm... "old fashioned". Even my dad who swears quite a lot, whenever he watches a movie with more than 10 swear words he starts getting nervous about it for some reason.

I'd wait until I'm out on my own, then leave some DVDs in a box by my folks' TV and say "here you go".
 
Erm...maybe you should just watch up to the episode Tabula Rasa and then skip ahead to the last three episodes of the season.

But seriously, there are quite a few sex scenes throughout, but the only especially graphic ones that come to mind take place at the end of Smashed and throughout Dead Things (yeeahh...like MinwaraYana said, you might wanna just skip this one altogether when watching with your parents. It's a great episode, but about half of it is nonstop sex). Entropy and Seeing Red (although this one is mostly just incredibly disturbing) have fairly graphic scenes as well, but they're not quite as bad as the ones I mentioned before.
 
Uhm, why exactly do you (want to) avoid the sex scenes? Since they are your parents, they probably know what sex is and that some people have it 😉

i dont want to derail the thread but it kind of points to a bigger problem of an unhealthy attitude toward sex.

everybody has (or will) have it...thats how WE are all here now lol!

I guess if you dont have that open type of relationship with your parents that you could even talk about sex (let alone the imagery of it in a fictional show) then it'd be better for you not to watch it with them lol.
 
Not everyone has the same relationship with their parents. Doesn't mean it's wrong. I'm embarassed at watching sex scenes with my parents to this day.

yeah thats why i said "if you dont have that type of relationship w/ your parents."

the first time I ever saw a movie with a "raw" sex scene was Bram Stocker's Dracula (you and i are the same age, so you know what year that movie was released) and i saw it with my aunt and mother. no big deal for any of us lol.



this thread really could spark a spin off topic about attitudes toward sex , sexual imagery or even a poll about who was/wasnt able to talk to their parents about sex.

Just so we're clear: I didn't want to offend anybody, I was just curious.

Because personally, I can't see anything embarrassing about watching a sex scene with my parents. I mean, it's fictional characters having sex, it's not like they walked in on you having sex or the other way around. That's something I would consider embarrassing. I have fairly open parents so that's probably why I can't see it.

To tell you the truth, it's more a moral thing: my parents aren't too wild about sex in television and movies (neither am I, but I just ignore it), and so it would be kind of embarrassing. I guess what works for one parent isn't always so hot with another! 😉

Anyhow, thanks to everyone for filling me in on all this...out of curiosity, how graphic is the attempted rape scene in "Seeing Red"?

I used to be embarrased about watching sex scenes with my parents about (especially sex scenes with Spike 😛) because I was quite young and I didn't know how much I was 'allowed' to know at that age. I thought my mum would be mad if she knew I knew about sex. Now I'm older we're fine with it though.
If you do wanna avoid the sex scenes I really would just skip frokm Tabula Rasa to the last three episodes like Crazy Flakes said.
 
Well, I mean, there's no nudity or sex-related dialogue... And I would suggest skipping Seeing Red, as it's an EXTREMELY important episodes in regards to Willow and Tara.

Personally I found the scene pretty hard to watch, emotionally it was quite disturbing. The sex scenes earlier in the season I suppose are a little more graphic (especially as far as nudity is concerned), but it is obviously a violent scene. And not to give away too much, but buffy for the majority of this scene was acting as a women who is potentially being raped, rather than the slayer. She's not the "butt kicking" superwoman that we're used to seeing and its definitely one of the darker scenes in the series.
 
Ok let me tell you my story; It was a typical Buffy day. I turned on my tv to watch Buffy. I was watching it with my parents. We also had guest you know grandparents. It was 'Smashed'. It was pretty good till the end lol. But then yea that scene. Everyone stopped talking and watched it. It was horribly bad :lmao:. After that i never watched Buffy with my parents let say.

Season 6 is pretty dangerous season for parents. Trust me! 😛
 
I watched the majority of Season 6 with my mum when it first came out (making me about 14-15 I guess?)

Me and my choose to make fun of the situation. We saw a skit from an English TV show years and years ago, and in the scene there's a Indian family watching TV while eating curry, then a sex scene comes on, and the entire family gets awkward and they start talking about the curry "Hrrm, good curry" "Yes, yes, the curry is good". So every time me and my mum are watching a movie and a sex scene comes on one of says something about curry, it breaks the ice and is a good little in joke.

I wouldn't have an issue watching Season 6 with my mum these days at all. I didn't really see to much of a problem with any of the sex scenes. It sure beats the time that me and my mum and dad watching Trainspotting together on video. THOSE sex scenes were something to blush about. My dad quickly fast forwarded the sex scenes. Hilarious! Well, now it is. Wasn't so much back then.
 
My mom's a prude and I wouldn't watch lots of parts of season 6 with her (though I don't watch anything with her and she is far too "mature" and "adult" to watch Buffy-she's a bit of a snob 😉 ). It's not so much that there is sex as what the sex is like. To come at it from the opposite angle, I'll let my kids watch Buffy with me, but most of season 6 is a big no-no (they're young-but they love scary stuff).
 
Well, I'd skip the episodes "Smashed" to "As You Were." I won't say which two character's become sexually involved, but yes, it is quite graphic 😉
