Anybody miss the simpler times when Bill and Tony were best buds, the world didn't hate America(and Britain) and Joss was producing new Buffy episodes??!

I'm bored, does anybody have an opinion on Tony Blair stepping down, should he do it now, or should he have ignored the criticism and tried to weather the storm?
 
Don't have opinion on him, but he's in Manchester at the moment, and a friend of mine lives there and said they have a thing called Blair watch (Or something) were people phone up and say where they've seen him - lol, I thought that was hilarious!!
 
Me, personally, I like Blair. He has made mistakes but he has done some great things too.
Having said that, I do believe there should be a cap on how long a person can 'run' a country BUT he should have stepped down during the last election or should wait until the next.
On a side note, I don't like Brown as a leader. He has no charisma, he has no real voice and i think, and this is the weaker part of the argument, I think he looks wrong.
He just doesn't say 'Prime Minister' to me.
John Reid does, but apparently he isn't interested.
 
Reid and Brown are both Scottish, so it doesn't matter which! :silly:

I agree about Brown, doesn't he just look like a total dictator? He's got that 'doesn't tolerate bullshit...or any other opinions' look about him.

I'm going to miss Blair. The Iraq debacle really tarnished his record, but you don't measure a PM by his mistakes alone.

See, as we live in Great Britain, I have no issue if out Prime Minister is Scottish or English(lets be honest the chances of a Welsh Premier is as likely as finding an intelligent Blonde in Essex).
Alot of people recently have stated that they don't want Brown as leader because he is Scot, but then said Reid would be great.
 
I will miss Blair not because i like him.
Gordon Brown-he just makes me nervous how well he'll be PM i don't know all i know is he likes to put the cost of lving up like petrol etc.
I sure hope the Torys never get in never! Labours bad enough 😉

Sure, from the perspective of a European. I bet you've never hated Iraq, Saddam yes, but I doubt your consciousness has ever been trained to hate any other nation on this planet. Rulers, leaders, dictators, but never a state, except America.
 
What does that mean exactly? You've been trained to hate the culture and its people? Just wondering...

Hey I don't hate America, at all, I'm just saying, many many people do for very weird reasons. So I'm just not remembering a day they didn't 😉
 
I like Gordon Brown, he is the local MP for my area and has done a lot here, and for all the work he has done as the Chancellor he has not once neglected his duty up here. I met him when he opened a nursery at the end of my road and he was really nice. lol and on the subject of what he 'looks like' I think he looks quite homely, Blair on the other had there is something weasel like about his features.

I always tend to tred carefully when politics comes up (in our family you don't talk about politics or religion it always ends bad) because it can go downhill really quickly.

So when I refer to things I refer to them in my area - I don't know how politics have effected where you live so I won't comment on that.

At the end of the day though they are all just as bad as each other, but I do recall the bad time when the tory's were in power and the NHS was virtually crippled. Not that its much better at the moment but its better than it was (marginally).
