In "Serenity," it was mentioned that all of the planets and moons in the cluster of worlds that the refugees from Earth found were terraformed to make them inhabitable by humans. Doing that would, obviously, destroy all of the native life, but, if the show had not been canceled so soon, do you think Joss would have ever had any kind of alien life, either intelligent or not, on the show?
 
I don't think so, and I would kinda hope not. What really made that show work was everything was so normal but it was set in space, if they were to include an alien I think it wold have been some little thing nothing like anything on star wars. (Thank god)

Actually I think it would have always been something on the cards if the show continued.. you know cards that are very far away if needed, but still.

I agree that the show was awesome without them.. with revers etc, but could have been interesting if they decided to touch on it.
 
Well we did see alien life, or an upside down pig. Hehe. Well I don't know if I would have liked the venture into that story. But, I would have supported it nonetheless.
 
I very much doubt it, it goes squarely against the kind of 'Verse that Whedon envisoned for the show. (That humans are the only sentient life in the universe). The addition of Reevers was to kind of make up for that abscence of aliens in the narrative, what about just some really messed up members of the human race? Same with the Hands of Blue and Operative, as long as the threats to our BDHs remained interesting if human-based - there was never any need for extraterrestials.

Total agreement.
I'm not sure if it would have worked. Firefly worked so well with aliens, adding them, even if for only one episode, would have been a double edged sword.
 
I don't know about the alien thing. The thing that's so cool about Firefly is that it's about totally normal people living in space in the future. I think bringing in an alien element would have seemed contrived or worse - like Joss was trying too hard to conform to the more "usual" sci-fi fare. Just a thought.
