Btw, something I was wondering about, concerning British football. When we have a World Cup, or the Euro 2008, does the team 'England' mean really just English players, or also Welsh, Scotts and Northern Irish?

It´s just the english. The other have teams of their own. If you read the thread you´ll notice that they mention the Scotland team as well as the Irish.

Actually it would be stranger if Ireland were in the finals. I'm so used to them not qualifying I think it would a shock to the system.

Im so annoyed Scotland didnt make it though. We were so close till that hun abandoned us and left alex mcleish in charge(i know, i know, who is alex mcleish)

It would be easy to think that Celtic would be my team in Scotland, but it´s Rangers. Don´t kill me leethehost. Brian Laudrup is the man! But I totally understand Henkes (Henrik Larssons) status in Celtic. But I´d already chosen a team and you don´t switch. Simple as that.

Yeah I read that, but doesn't have tó mean anything. Germany is divided into different states (kinda like the USA in a way) and we have teams that are more just one state (for instance Bayern München...Bayern=Bavaria so you see it's more of a local thing) so it could've been the same for England.

Yeah, but Bavaria can´t really qualify for the WC or Euros, can they?

Spain also have "district"teams like Basque, Catalonia,, and Galicia. And it wouldn´t surprise me if it´s the same with more countries.

I don´t want to sound rude or disrepectful or something, so I hope you don´t take it that way. But I guess it can be seen that way.

Oh, you fool. The "real" reds are the greatest team ever. We have won the Pl, well never. But next season will be ours. We´ve been saying that for almost two decades know, but this time it´s gonna happen. 😉 Well, that is of course if our owners don´t kill each other first. Stupid americans!

Liverpool have been saying 'Next season is our season' for the last 16 years. Still waiting for anything to come of it. There is at least 3 years worth of work to be done before Liverpool can realistically challenge for the title and thats only if the right players are brought in.

Didn´t you see the smiley? I know it´s our "thing" so I just have to use it as much as possible. I can´t take myself to serious. But I must admit that at the start of every season I always try to convince myself we have the chance. And every year is the same disappointment.

Next year will finally be the year as long as we have a goalkeeper that can dominate the air, get new wingers and fullbacks (or what they´re called), Torres and Gerrard having an even better season than this one, have very few injuries (imagine playing Lucas instead of Mascherano for 3 months *brrr*) and I think we´re in the race. Yeah, that´s totally realistic...

so basically ye need a whole new team! Honestly though ye do need two fullbacks and another central defender, carragher can't do it all on his own. Reina I think wud do better if ye changed the way you set out for corners. It's amazing that Benitez still insists on it. ye have lost more goals that way than anything!

Definitely need more from the wings and you most definietly need another world class striker. One isn't enough and Kuyt and Crouch just do not fit the bill.

I think they could be better. If you are going to win the league you have to be solid as rock at the back. Maybe if the side got more confidence they would come into there own but I still think they have lapses in concentration that can be too costly.

Britain is really only bound by politics, Some want it, some dont, but they would NEVER do a British national team as me and millions more would not stand for that.
I know there is no particular reason any(non british/irish) person should know how it works here but as a Scot it is annoying to see my country being branded *a part of England*, so i, like many others (scottish and english) want independence. Not because scotland and england have a problem with each other, but because alot of us want to see our country do our own thing and make a name for ourselves as an independent nation.: king :

I was eriously biting my nails during the match. I was hiding in my pillow when it went to extra time, I was screaming by the time it went to penalties! Man U NEVER win on penalties. They played a good game...except Ronaldo who, as usual, missed! But he did score the first goal, so I have to give him his props.

That was officially the most nerve wracking game ever! I literally was hiding in my top during the penalties! I knew Ronaldo was gona miss. Feel sorry for Terry, he's a real professional and the heart of that team, it's an awful way to lose. All sympathies aside, I couldn't be more excited or happy now if I tried!

Credit to Vidic, Hargreaves and Tevez. They were unbelievable last night. Their work rates were amazing.
