Weakest Buffy Season

Personally I think a toss up between 6 and 4. Both weak continuing points, both bad main villians(not including Willow). Let downs.

I think the weakest Buffy season is season 1. That one just felt kinda incomplete. It was only twelve episodes long and more than half the episodes didn't even deal with the Big Bad of the season which was The Master. I'm not saying it was a bad season, because it wasn't. But I felt that they should have explored The Master a little bit more.

I definitely DISagree that it was season six. That's the best season IMO. Followed with a tie between 3 and 7.

I want to say four, simply because it was the WORST season long arc on the show, but season four had some GREAT standalone stories that didn't involve The Initiative.

I might say...season one or two. I love The Master but Buffy seemed too ditzy in the first few episodes, and Willow was...I dunno. And several of the episodes were below average. And season two had some TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE episodes. Like Inca Mummy Girl (gag). The only really good stuff in season two was Angelus and Jenny.

i'm gonna say, for story arce and continuity, season 1...in is not the WORST Buffy seasin in my opinion, but it definitely has some bad points, as VG pointed out, only 12 eps, and most of them didn't even involve the Master.
i agree with Crush Dead Boone when he says that season 4 had the worst overall arce, 'cause let's face it, Adam and the Inititive weren't great, but season 4 had some great eps, like Hush, Something Blue, Restless, Who Are You.

I think season 5 was the worst season ever. The main villian was a joke and the season even started with a really bad episode...

First person to say season 7, wow. I think it's by far the worst, and most people I know irl feel the same way. Poor characterization, uneven pace, uninteresting (and far too many) new characters, some of the worst standalones. Even Faith wasn't interesting enough this time round to save the season, but Caleb did go some way to helping towards the end. It could have been worse, but I can't watch it without thinking how much more they could have made of it.

My order of the seasons in reverse order: 7,6,5,1,4,2,3.

prob season 4, though it was a great season i think the whole intiative thing was a let down.. and i didnt like Riley... and the Adam thing was boring I thought.. but other than that the rest of the season was good 🙂

Gotta agree with you, Croft Storm. Season seven started out good, but then they brought on the First Evil. While they worked in Amends, they can't be a season long big bad. They're coporeal. Can't touch you. And every episode was about them. Bad big bad.

gotta agree with those who said season 1, and for some of the same reasons. the meager portion of only 12 episodes and many not having to do with the master. i also didnt like the master very much. thats kind of contradictory, but it makes sense. im saying i didnt like how small the arc was, and i didnt like the arc villain. and i know this is an oversaid comment that is not as fair cause it was a while ago (almost 10 years), but it also seemed dated. there were also fewer characters, and less backstory and development for the ones that were there...still some, but less.

I'm nearly done with season seven. I think it's one of THE best, and The First Evil is the most logical choice for a series ending Big Bad. I mean, come on, it's the FIRST EVIL. And they way it manipulates people rather than pyshically hurting them is much more interesting and sinister. I thought the whole seventh season is just very well done and it feels more solid, and planned out than the others do. As though it had a set path from the first episode, while every other season wanders to and fro for a while.

I always thought the first its se;f was kinda lack lustre as a villian. Season as a whole, excellent.

I think it's fair to say that this question is one that divides the entire Buffy fanbase. Everybody has a least favourite season that is the favourite of somebody else.

Personally I think that season one is the weakest. Because it has twelve episodes instead of twenty two. LAME! 😉

i love season 6 of buffy. But the villans was bad not willow. I would say season 1 really i not to keen on that season!

I didn't understand any of that after "I love season six of Buffy", even though I've read the post like 20 times now.

I dunno i hated season 4 i mean it just i understand like it was character growth but it sucked dont get me wrong Hush was an amazing episode and some parts were good but pretty but it sucked for me.

Season 4. It had some of the best ever episodes (Hush, Superstar etc) but I wasnt a big fan of the Initiative or Adam and I hated Riley (although I did love Forrest). Plus its the season Oz left 🙁

Season 1 is the weakest season because of the oft used 'It's only 12 episodes'.
On an individual episode level, honestly they are ALL great. I can pick 4 favourites from each.
On an arc level, some are a little weaker then others BUT make up for that in great stories and characters.

Season four was, although it had some good episodes like Something Blue.
The problem with Season one is, i read somewhere that Joss wasn't sure if it would be picked up agian, or well recieved so hense the short season.

Actually I think it was just down to the show being a midseason replacement. Most series that are picked up to replace another axed series halfway through a season are only ten to twelve episodes long for the first year.

I'm going to go with S7, it had a lot of stand alone episodes that helped towards the season arc but didn't do anything for me, it just wasn't good enough, I think the one of the things I disliked the most was the focus on Wood going after Spike!

Best has got to be S6!
