Alright. Here I am at last with these ones. 😀

Twilight: Part 1

--I'm so glad that Xander wrote "Goonies Never Say Die" on that bullet. So so glad!
--Ah, and there is Xander quoting Lois Lane . . . much like Andrew did with Willow . . . This is amusing to me.
--Am finding it interesting that Dawn is the only one having the concerns that everyone should be having.
--Ah. It was Andrew making the side comments on people. No wonder they were all so amusing.

Twilight - Part 2

--Yes Highlander reference!!!! I'm not the only dork ever!!! YAY!
--Oh Em Gee. Andrew is so accessorized that I can't make a coherent comment.
--Haha "You listen to me Twilight-- My God, is that really the name you picked? TWILIGHT? Y'Know I lived that idea first, right? (And my vampire was so much better)" That cracked me up on the first read and it did it again.
--Oh man. There is so much going on here. It's still hard for me to process on the re-read.

Twilight - Part 3

--Haha Dawn. "Ben is Glory?"
--So I'm looking at this illustration where we first see nearly naked Buffy and Angel and I'm looking at things, from an artists perspective as I usually do. You know, proportion and composition and then there is a CREEPY CREEPY monkey staring at me in the top right corner. . . . weird.
-- Ok, makes more sense on this re-read. Obviously there had to be fallout from making all the potentials into slayers, and this is it. Which, why weren't they worried about this long before now? The consequences of this action?

Twilight - Part 4

-- I laughed. The orcs aren't coming . . .but the butterflies are!! Moohaha!
-- Alright. I can slightly understand Angel's motivations here. At the root of it he really just wanted the girl. Since he can now. And in classic Angel form, he has the best intentions, which lead him to hell . . . again. He really should listen to that old saying.
-- Also . . . HFIEJFKLDSFJ DSLF AT LAST!!!!!!!!!! SPIKE!!!!!!!!!!

I really wish I'd brought the last Trade Paperback to work with me. I so want to just read it now!!! ARGHHH!!

Retreat Part 1
-Why the intros? Are they assuming that they’re getting a bunch of new readers this arc? Oh, that’s right, it’s Andrew. I think that’s kind of dumb. It’s unnecessary and I don’t understand the point, plus he narrated one of the other issues anyway.
-“You don’t get power for free”. “The Monkey’s Paw”. http://gaslight.mtroyal.ca/mnkyspaw.htm
Such a creepy story. And I always think it’s interesting that it’s Dawn who says it, especially considering her actions in Forever, which always make me think of this story.
-I love Xander freaking out over the superhero stuff!
-“Now she’s faster than a speeding—oh jeez, I just realized what they were doing. Losers” Amy: “nerd-a-trons”. Warren: “Think she can phase?”
-“Take me to the Slayer who needs me most”. Buffy is jealous of everybody.
-“Man. I’m gassy. Someone needs to get punched for that.” I definitely feel that way sometimes, too!
-Slayer Swear
-“Please don’t tell Buffy we failed”
-“She/he can see us. Can she/he see us?” Warren and Andrew LOL.
-“That’s where all the power’s coming from…You’re sucking it from every Slayer who dies”. Thank God that doesn’t end up to be true, because it really dismays Buffy.

Part 2
-Love the Highlander reference, that’s a really interesting comparison.
-“The one person in the world who is capable of anything except forgiving herself”. We see that time & time again, especially in season 8.
-“You’re dead.” “You’re right”. And the clues keep mounting! Not long before the big reveal.
-Faith tried Buffy’s move
from Innocence only it doesn’t work this time!
-Andrew: the ultimate geek cliché!
-Twilight- “My God, is that really the name you picked? Twilight? Y’know I lived that idea first, right? (And my vampire was so much better).” Whoa boy.
-“Your best asset was that you weren’t a talker!”
-“And I wasn’t hiding. I was in L.A. Things got very funky. I’m okay now” I’m assuming this is in reference to the events of After the Fall and Hell-A.
-It’s so interesting seeing Buffy confused on page 76. Partly due to Twilight’s influence? Or just how she gets in the presence of Angel.

Part 3
-“Ben is Glory?” LOL!
-1680s, wonder which Slayer/vampire pair they thought it was?
-Poor Satsu, I wouldn’t want to see all this either if I were her, in love with Buffy!
-Love Angel’s tattoo, heh-heh
-OK, I have to say this. I’m a Bangel. The first-time through I didn’t like this arc at all, I’m still iffy on what they did with Angel’s character in this entire season, and don’t quite get how it completely matches up with his development and relapses in AtS or the IDW comics that came after. I admit that I haven’t finished reading the IDW comics (only AtF). However, I do have to say that this re-read, I admit that I like the Bangel sex. I know, I know! It’s universe-creating & world-ending, and Twilight-manipulating and all that, and will only end in disaster! I know that. And yet, I can’t help be a bit happy that my couple got a small moment of happiness (OK, it was a big moment). There, I said it. I know it makes me an awful, evil person.
-“It’s how the earth gives birth to a new reality”.
-So interesting how, in the moment of climax, there’s a picture of Spike!
-Buffy’s truest loves: vampires. Riley is not in the picture. Makes me sad, especially considering his sacrifice this season (which we will read more about in the next thread!).
-Did Giles ever find this totem that could “kill a god”? Was it the scythe, or something else? And could he really kill Buffy?!

Part 4
Placenturians LOL
-Andrew protects Warren. Wow.
-It’s a Daffy Duck cartoon LOL!
-“Paradise is ours to write”
-It’s too perfect in Angel’s eyes- they’re being used. The new universe doesn’t really care about them & their happiness, it just needs them so it can come into existence.
-“That’s what I need to fight for. Not happiness. Not humanity. Them.” Makes me cry. I love Buffy!
-“My family is on that lower plane….I never do what I’m meant for….F#*% evolution.”
“I’ll take the ones on the left.” “Then I get the ones on the right.” A total Angel saying, or rather, a Gunn saying:
Gunn to Angel: "I take the twenty on the left, you take the fifty on the right."
Angel: "Okay."
[from Over The Rainbow]
GUNN: OK. You take the 30,000 on the left...
[from Not Fade Away]
-I love, love, love Spike’s entrance!!! But I wonder, the bug “ship”. Is it meant to be some kind of commentary or subtle hint about ‘shipping?

Overall, wow. This arc is quite the game-changer, and kind of the climax of the series.

Wickedtiger, we were posting at pretty much the same time LOL. I just took awhile typing it all out and didn't see your post 'til after I posted mine. We had a lot of similar comments. And may I just say that it's been really fun doing these discussions with you- the two of us have stuck out the entire thing LOL. Hopefully the others will catch up soon!
--Ah. It was Andrew making the side comments on people. No wonder they were all so amusing.
You thought they were funny? I thought they were annoying.

LOL, my exact feelings!

LOL, I didn't really even notice it! Yeah, there's definitely a few weird things in those scenes, including as I just mentioned...Spike!
-- Also . . . HFIEJFKLDSFJ DSLF AT LAST!!!!!!!!!! SPIKE!!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea what this means, but I think I had the same reaction. 🙂

Now, off to read the Riley one-shot and type up my notes.

Heh. It has been fun! It is really funny how most of our responses were so similar!

-Andrew: the ultimate geek cliché!
That's what I should have said! Your brain is better than mine. 😀

-OK, I have to say this. I'm a Bangel. You know. I liked it too. And I even have to turn against my Spuffy brethren to say it. It was cool for them to have a little time together there.

-So interesting how, in the moment of climax, there's a picture of Spike!

How did I not make that connection?! *Kicks self!

You thought they were funny? I thought they were annoying.

I can see that. I just kept giggling about the General also craving cheese. 😀 Actually . . .it kinda made me crave cheese. . .

OK, I don't really get why the General craves cheese. That always goes over my head.

I think it was just coincidental and random. I totally did just go get a lunchable so I could have cheese, by the way. :D
Twilight: Part 1

-Xander carries a gun? I'm sure nothing could go wrong with that... 🙂
-"Goonies never say die." Hahahaha
-Huh. Buffy can fly AND run super fast? Interesting. Did she get everyone's powers or what??
-I love how in awe Xander is of Buffy's powers now. It's like every super hero comic he ever read, rolled into one. Oh, boy! Haha
-And there's whiny Dawn again. Ugh.
-The interactions between Willow and Buffy seem so odd, like they're aloof of each other. Hmmm.
-Ahhh, should have known Andrew was doing the narrative. I'm curious as to what Willow is finding...
-"Slayer swear."
-Oh, my, gosh. All those girls in the river. 🙁
-Love Buffy finding the General & Co.
-So, Buffy IS getting their powers. Wow. And creepy.
-I love Andrew in that little hero trap! And Warren using the same codes. "Can he see us?"

Can't wait to read the next one!

Twilight: Part 2

-The expression on Buffy's face on the cover is just horrifying.
-Yes, Xander, the eye patch jokes are most definitely overused.
-Highlander reference!!
-I think jumping to "I'm like a vampire" is a little melodramatic for Buffy. She isn't sucking anything, it's going to her.
-Poor Andrew. Always getting forgotten. 🙂
-So, Giles knows Twilight, eh? He had a spell masking his voice?
-I love Xander's pep talks to Buffy. Some great moments over the years.
-Willow as a floating head? Really??
-Twilight is completely invulnerable? Well, that's just silly. As is Faith's shirt.
-I find it odd that Buffy and crew would just accept that Warren, Amy, and the General just decided to switch sides all of a sudden. Hopefully they have a contingency plan.
-So, Twilight has been trying to give Buffy more power so she can fight him? Huh??
-Andrew as Captain America?? Oh. My. Gosh. HAHAHAHAHA.
-So, Angel IS Twilight. I did get spoiled on that, but none of the details. Wow. And for him to reveal himself as she's referencing him...wow. Had to blow her mind. But is he Angelus or Angel??
-Ok, not Angelus. Jeez...
-Ooo, love the giant stake! She's come a loooong way, though, ready to stake Angel without thinking twice about it.
-I don't quite get how what he's doing was keeping the body count down...(BTW, these drawing don't look anything like Angel. Except the spiky hair.)
-"You and I don't have a lot of experience with joy." That's an understatement.
-Holy crap. Are Angel and Buffy actually going to get to be together?! Wow. Just...wow.
-

Twilight: Part 3

I hope this issue clarifies some things, because I am very confuzzled...

-The one cover looks like Valentine's Day puked on it. The other is gorgeous. A beautiful Bangel moment.
-Warren and Andrew reunion!! HAHA
-"Ben is Glory?" Hahaha. And Xander's hatred of Angel deepens, I'm sure. Why would Amy know who Angel is?
-Flashback to S1 Buffy - loves it!
-It's like IWRY in graphic terms. You can always tell how much these two always have wanted each other, and the pull they have towards each other.
-They cuss a lot in these comics. Meh.
-Poor Satsu. 🙁
-I love seeing flashbacks of former slayers. And hey, is that Spike with his little pony tail?
-I am so lost here. Them having sex is making the earth go batty?? Because nature needs to equalize? Huh? And where did Angel get all this power in the first place?
-The writers had fun with this little orgasm collage. 😉
-Ok, so Buffy got super-charged because she's been the most worthy Slayer to come along. She shared the power, defied death, etc. Angel got the power because he's the "yin to her yang". Ok. But why was he being all evil? And why would the "universe" have anything to do with it? Vampires are demons; slayers were a man-made occurrence to fight evil.
-Random flashforward to Spike and Buffy. But yay on seeing Spike!!
-So, they are the best of the vampires and the best of the humans that were brought together. Hmm.
-So, Twilight is a place?

Ok, got a few questions answered, but mostly I'm more confused. And happy that Buffy and Angel finally got to have a happy moment without anyone turning homicidal or needing to turn back time. 🙂

Twilight: Part 4

-The cover with everyone "weighing on Buffy's mind" is awesome!
-My biggest question going in to this is: Is Twilight a person, place, or happening?!
-Why didn't Angel lose his soul?
-Warren and Andrew together again. And still, ew.
-"No one looks good in graduation gowns." Very true.
-Sooo...Angel made this happen just so he and Buffy could be together? Selfish much?
-Love the look of understanding on Angel. He's in it with Buffy, no matter what. Yay!
-SPIKE!!!!!!!!!! In a space ship? Huh?

Twilight: Part 4

-Why didn't Angel lose his soul?

I wondered about that, too. A lot of people seem to believe that Angel's new found powers somehow overrode the curse, though I've never cared for that explanation. More likely, to me, at least, it was because what he did with Buffy was too much blind animal passion and not enough actual romance to qualify as a moment of complete happiness.Their moment together in Season 2 was gentle and loving, nothing like the unbridled frackfest that they engaged in this time. Surely it takes more to achieve perfect happiness that just sweaty bodies, even if they are super powered bodies, and multiple orgasms. This was the Bangel equivalent of "Smashed" on steroids, even more violent and more destructive.

Ahhh, good point. Kind of how Angel was with Darla. "Smashed on steroids" is a great parallel!

PassionBecoming agrees: Where does that come in?? Did I miss it?
No you haven't missed it, read it before you read the Last Gleaming arc. Did you read the Willow one-shot?

Oh, ok. No, I don't think I read the Willow one. I must have missed some in the order. Crap!

If you're reading the TPBs, the Willow one-shot comes at the end of the Twilight arc, but should be read before it. Same thing with the Riley one-shot: it is placed at the end of the Last Gleaming arc but should be read before it.

Well, I'm in the midst of the Twilight arc, so I'll go back to the Willow one and get my hands on the Riley one! Thank you for telling me!
