Mal swears on his pretty floral bonnet!
Accidental marriage. Don't you just hate it when that happens? Admittedly, I think it normally involves Las Vegas and way too much alcohol.
Jayne calls it Vera.
Introducing the special hell.
Saffron's home planet was sounding pretty bad... and then things took a turn. It was interesting seeing her and Inara trying to seduce each other. And Inara, revealing feelings for Mal. And Mal, congratulations on putting the evidence together and coming to the wrong conclusion. Though to be fair it probably seemed a more likely one to him.

And now I'm curious about where Mal comes from (apparently a ranch on Shadow). I bet he had siblings. I'm curious what an ep of them would've been like.
One of the classic episodes imho. But I guess I consider most of the episodes as classics...
Hendricks are excellent in this one though.
Think most of the crew are extremely unfair to Mal in the beginning.
It's not like he did, knowingly, anything wrong and yet they treat him like it's his fault.
Jayne offering his beloved gun as a trade though, that's creepy and rather disgusting. Still kinda funny scene.
Inara laying slightly paralysed and not wanting be examinated by the doctor is the funniest. You don't see Morena's funny side that often.

That knockout drug was potent, almost magical. A single kiss and it not only knocks Mal out, but later Inara.
Any fan theories on why Saffron seems immune to it? It's scifi so there are a lot of possible explanations, but none feel satisfying to me. (It's so powerful that I'm not seeing natural immunity, a covering would be too clunky and still risky, and again because it's so fast that I don't see an artificial organ or antidote being likely.) I'm sure someone else could do better than me.
(I'm not docking the ep points for this, it's just something that I keep thinking about from time to time. I'm actually not expecting an answer, though a good explanation would be nice.)

This is so common in fiction! Now, given its proximity to the head, thanks to being administered via the lips, and being futuristic, it is slightly more plausible than people being shot by a tranq dart in the leg and promptly keeling over.
Some kind of false skin was my assumption. Medical grade covering designed to keep infections out would likely keep out toxins too. Though licking your lips would be a problem.
The alternative would be something that is designed so that an antidote can be taken beforehand. Take a pill, be immune for a day, that sort of thing. I could see that type of toxin being designed to be used by spies and infiltrators.
Don't know why but I've been putting off this episode. Mal in the bonnet though!
Jayne does scrub up well, makes me think that like Gunn he could have been more than just the muscle.
