This episode has previously always been my favourite, be interesting to see if that changes.

An interesting episode, showing how everyone got together and set in three different time periods. The now, when an injured Mal is trying to fix the ship, the near now showing how they got to this point and the past, showing how everyone else turned up.

Wash, with an unfortunate moustache, who Zoe takes an instant dislike to. Guess something changed there.

Kaylee, not their original mechanic and able to diagnose what's wrong with the ship whilst technically otherwise occupied. Now, that's some smarts.

I love Inara's confidence as she doesn't so much negotiate with Mal as tell him how it is.

Jayne joining them after switching sides during a robbery. Somehow, not a surprise.

The reveal at the end that the man selling Mal Serenity was actually talking about a different ship.

Oh, and Mal and Wash having an argument where they end up agreeing whilst shouting.

It's definitely a top 3 episode. And offers the clearest proof so far that River has abilities beyond the norm.

Love this episode. Together with the pilot I would rank it the highest.
It's just good to see how they all come together. Some fun stories there and quite telling about their personalities.
The reveal in the end is also a nice touch. Mal only having eyes for Serenity.

Mal showing again why he is the captain and the leader.
Getting everyone to keep working even if it looks hopeless.
Holding it all together.
