Another lesson on beware what you wish for in the Jossverse. (But at least Wash gets a "war story.")
Not sure if it was intentional or not, but the last scene where Jayne lightly slaps Mal's chest or stomach seems to get Mal to hide the pain that he'd be in (like he stiffened and blink with a tight face). If I saw that right, it was brilliant attention to detail that he'd be sensitive there after the torture.

The Shepherd has some interesting choices in reading material. Apparently Niska reads the same. The latter is not a very nice man.
The pitter-patter of tiny feet in combat boots.
Jayne is being generous and only we and Mal know why.
I knew Inara took female clients! Apparently for relaxation? And everyone's reaction to the client.
Wash chose the wrong day to want to do Zoe's job. At least he and Mal got a chance to talk about things. Under torture.
The Bible is fuzzy on the topic of kneecaps.
River shoots three people without even looking at them! Kaylee is taken aback.
Book telling Simon the latter still hasn't shot anyone.

Not only is Kaylee taken aback, but River throws the "no power in the verse can stop me" back at her, treating it as their earlier playtime. I think that's ALMOST pointed out in the last ep.
Must say that Niska feels a little bit over the top evil. lol
Peoples reaction to Inara's client seems a bit exaggerated. Not exactly sure what the big deal was.
One of my favourite things about the show is stuff like how Zoe chooses Wash without a second thought when you kinda expected some drama.
It's in line with Mal shooting the marshal in the pilot without hesitation. There are plenty of moments like that through out the show.
Great fun to see River in action for the first time.
Also kinda good to see Kaylee's somewhat more realistic reaction to gun fire.
Forgot how many classic lines it was in this episodes.

"I'll be in my bunk."
"I never - never shot anyone before. I was there, son. I'm fair sure you haven't shot anyone yet."
"This is something the captain has to do for himself. No. No, it's not!"
