Weird but tasty food combinations...

Here I was, innocently tucking into my banana and cheese sandwich and I was told I was weird for eating a banana and cheese sandwhich (which tastes fantastic though).

So I got to thinking...what foods have you mixed that seem odd but taste really good?

My other combination is to have vanilla ice cream and creamed corn. It's really good....when I was little this was all I ever wanted. Ice cream with creamed corn.

I like to eat bologna sandwiches with a layer of Fritos on top of the bologna.
I also like salami and peanut-butter sandwiches.

i don't know if there's anything i eat that's weird, but there are things that we eat in my part of the world that's weird to everyone else. we eat things like soda, and potato bread...they're the best things in the world, but might sound strange to people who don't know what we're talking about! lol

Mint sauce on lamb is weird to me, not my habit though 😉 :silly:

I don't eat snails or oyster or any of the weird French food... so I don't have it too bad I guess... some ppl find cereals with fruit juice weird, I think it's yummy. :silly:

Also, my boyfriend tells me I'm weird for eating the sunflower seed shells along with the seed. "I have a sound theory: don't put anything sharp down my throat!", says he.

ok, i got one...french fries sandwiches with cheddar cheese...and maybe a little ketchup.

In Belgium we eat Belgian fries with mayonaise out of a paper cone, to some people it sounds weird but all of my foreign friends who ever tried them while in Belgium think they're delicious! They say our mayo tastes diffrent too...

Actually they shouldn't even be called French Fries, since we invented them ^.^v There are all sorts of theories why they are called french fries in English but the one and only correct one is that the potatoes are 'frenched' hence french fries...The French have absolutely no claim on them, hah!(nothing personal agains the French though, they have wonderful cuisine as well) Personally I always talk about Belgian fries or "Frietjes!" for more info/ the original recipe visit the "Belgian fries website"

other weird things I eat are probably the lunch-subs. In Belgium its quite common to have a French baguette(a small one) for lunch with topping and a lot of vegetables. The original 'smos' as we call them, is a ham and cheese sandwich with mayo and all sorts of veggies and eggs. The word 'smos' comes from 'smossen' which is a colloquial way of saying 'to spill', because eating one can get quite messy.
Recently you can find almost anything on those sandwiches, another quite famous one is a 'Martino', that has 'Filet americain preparé' (which is basically minced beef with a tablespoon of mayo, one tablespoon of ketchup and worcester sauce, flavoured with salt and pepper, and occasionally onions and parsley), with pickles, tiny silver onions (pickled onions), ansjovies, mustard and ketchup...yummy! I also love the ones hat have apples and bacon in them, or tuna and peach!!!Or salmon, pineapple and cocktail sauce!...ok now I'm hungry!:lick2:

To be fair, in English they are called chips...not to be confused with American English, where chips are what we call crisps 🙂 The British national dish, before Chicken Tikka Masala was invented 🙂, was always fish and chips, not fish and fries...I blame MacDonalds 😉

Oh yeah I forgot that... you know I was doing that only in the UK though... I haven't since I got back... maybe I was just trying to copy the weirdness of beans on toast but since I couldn't really, I replaced it with yogurt, lol

Beans on toast is weird? I like to mix in some brown sauce, for some tang, and melt some cheese onto of the beans.

yeah, there was an Angel ep where Gunn says 'Is that something you British eat with your beans on toast?' don't know what they were talking about though.

i got another one. well, not mine. my friend doesn't like milk, she allergic or something, so she puts orange juice on her cereal, or apple juice, or whatever juice she has at hand. it's quite disgusting to watch actually, lol.

I have tried cereal without milk once, I forget what type of fruit juice I put on it but I found it to be quite disgusting. It's certainly not something I would try again.

To be fair, in English they are called chips...not to be confused with American English, where chips are what we call crisps 🙂 The British national dish, before Chicken Tikka Masala was invented 🙂, was always fish and chips, not fish and fries...I blame MacDonalds 😉

I always like the use of the word "crisps" for chips but my brain doesn't seem to ever wanna program that into my vocabulary...it's always just "chips" and "hot chips" for me! :lmao:
