Question Weirdest job you were ever offered?

Years ago (I think it was 2004), my family and I were staying at the Las Vegas Hilton...which housed the AWESOME Star Trek: The Experience. A section of the hotel was re-made into the Trek universe, with Quark's Bar, actors in character wandering around, HUGE models of Federation and Klingon shops in the "sky." (Lots of other stuff too, but you get the idea)

I practically lived there. It was just amazing. So, imagine my surprise when I was approached by two of the (off-duty) actors, who said there was an opening for a Klingon female...they'd noticed my height, and told me to apply as quickly as possible.

Long story short, I was offered the job...but when I realised that I'd actually have to LIVE in Nevada, I had second thoughts. (Love Star Trek, hate heat!) But it would've been so much fun! 🙁

Well, back when I was doing my psychiatric nurse training (yes....I know 😛)... I was offered to have my training paid for, this included everything I needed to specialise as well. This was so I could look after someone in particular, until the end of their days. Sounds good huh? Yer I thought so until I found out who it was for and had it proved to me it was legit (the only thing about them that was, trust me on that!). Then I have to say I gracefully declined (after being very scared, I was only young).

So I don't know if that counts as weird or just scary really.

Didn't exactly result in the offer of a job....but if things were different......

Some years ago now I was drinking in a bar in Aldershot with a couple of old School friends (Both male) when two really dodgy looking foreign blokes approached us & started asking questions about 'Where we'd served'. After not liking the answers they got they wandered off to pester someone else.....

It wasn't until two 'Military Policemen' came & started asking us what they had said that we found that the two goons had been trying to recruit Mercenaries to fight in Bosnia 😱 They thought we were off duty soldiers!!!!

Don't think I've ever cut my hair that short again since...... 😕

(For the non-Brits, Aldershot is a Military town, but not everyone that lives there is Army.....& I was only visiting a friend)

Not really weird, more unusual, I guess, but my first "grown up" job was working with my father's house moving company. My most memorable experience about that job was actually having a house fall on me. That's why the episodes "Smashed" and "Wrecked" have such special appeal to me.

I remember when I was like 18, I was waiting for my boyfriend at the bus station (that was my first mistake), and a business man, expensive suit, suitcase and all, came up to me and asked "how much?".

Mine's similar lol. I was asked pretty much to be an escort, by this man who wanted someone to "satisfy" his wife while he was away on business trips.

It was called the "Institute of Self-Actualisation". Got roped in by a friend who wouldn't tell me what it was about, but she was on a psychotherapy course with me, so I assumed it would be alright. It started off with fairly happy clappy stuff, but then it got worrying. Seclusion, sleep depravation, peer pressure, constant badgering. The last day was particularly unsettling, when they attempted to pressure everyone into giving thousands in advance for future sessions and for anyone who has kids to bring them along to the "children's experience". I won't even get into some of the exercises that they did and some of the stuff that was said, but it varied from bizarre, to something that could be genuinely traumatic for someone. As a therapist and as a person, it was pretty troubling. They hounded me for a few years after I turned down their offer to be a recruiter, but thankfully they gave up on me after a while.

I guess something to mention is everytime I was put in a psych hospital they urged me to become psych nurse, to the point it felt cult-like.. "you have so much knowledge to share...imagine changing another life...you could help people"

A few years back me and some friends were out & about and were looking for place nearby to eat at. Ended up at Brickhouse Tavern. Had this really neat fireplace. Anyway, then we seen the waitresses' uniforms. Kind of looked like a country western Hooters. LoL Anyway, me and a friend were coming back from the restroom and the manager came up to us and after a minute asked if I might be interested in working there. 😱
