Were fans "Ripped off" for both series finales?

Do you think the Buffyverse fandom was ripped off by the series finales of both BTVS and Angel?

I mean two of the most iconic and epic action/supernatural TV Series, and we don't even get like a 2 hour series finale?

I mean they did it with the sixth season finale of Buffy, why not for Buffy and Angel's series finales? Personally, as much as I love "Not Fade Away" and "Chosen" I think the battles for the finales were very generic.

You'd think with how long the series had run they'd give us more than an 2 hour finale episode.

What do you guys think?

I don't know about the Angel finale, but the Buffy finale was pretty much a two-part episode, wasn't it? Or even three parts?
Buffy gets excluded, the others think they can do it without her, but fail, she returns, gets the scythe, Angel appears, she kills Caleb, she's the boss again and they defeat the First.
I'd consider that the finale, but maybe you mean that they didn't air two episodes in a row.

Anyway, I don't think that the people from the shows really owe their fans anything.
They can do whatever they think is best and I don't feel "ripped off", because the last two episodes aren't called Chosen: Part 1 and Chosen: Part 2.

I think I read that, for Buffy, they had wanted to have some extra episodes, but the network said they couldn't, so they had to cram everything into those last few episodes.

I didn't feel like we were ripped off. I really do think they tried to fit too much into the last couple "Angel" eps, with the quick introduction of the Circle of the Black Thorn and stuff but I thought the eps were really well done and while I would have liked to have seen a 2-part or a 2-hour finale, I liked the finales very much.

I don't think we were ripped off at all. Both shows ended in a way that made it clear they were done but they gave a sense of hope for the participants in the future. The Legion of Slayers to take on all the evil and the band of heros fighting against the odds. The endings were fitting for the tone of each show. Personally I would have liked to see Buffy sacrifice herself at the end, but after the endings to both season 1 and season 5, that ship had understandably sailed. As for the end of AtS, it fit perfectly to the tone and theme of the show, Angel and whoever is helping him, taking on odds far greater and more evil than they know, but standing tall none the less.

I don't think so. I get the argument, wanting as much of Buffy and Angel as possible at the end, but that doesn't always mean great T.V. Look at the Smallville finale. I loved that series, but by the end they just had nothing substantial to fill the finale with (you could say that about the last three seasons of the show though), and as a result it dragged and was a sad, sorry end to something I really cared about.

The final episodes in both Buffy and Angel are two of the best of the franchise, and two of my favorites in any T.V. show I've seen. They both summed up the enduring messages of both series' to absolute perfection, the emotional moments couldn't have been better and like Jodast mentioned, they left us with a sense of hope for both the future of the characters and, to me anyways, life in general.

Honestly, I can't think of much more that they could have accomplished in two hours that they didn't in one. I wanted a bit more of Angel in the Buffy finale and Buffy to be at least mentioned in the Angel ending, but those are critiques I have with the episodes, and not really the length.

I'm never going to turn down more Buffy and Angel, but I don't think they needed two hours.

I felt ripped off because "Chosen" sucked. A show like Buffy, that's been about subversion and quality for most of its run, ends in some generic giant battle? Spike dies but then comes back in Angel? Willow becomes some kind of flashlight witch? Some Axe that randomly shows up is the "key to the whole thing"? Angel randomly showing up and acting out of character because Cordelia just died? Anya randomly dying and no one seeming to care? The "world is doomed scene" which completely made no sense because Buffy and Giles were supposed to be in a conflict (Buffy telling him shes got nothing to learn from him). Why were these lame Potentials even on my screen? That whole episode was a mess.

"Not Fade Away" was epic in every single way. I felt so good when I finished that episode
