Thing is nightshade is right regardless if religion is recognised or not, the being married thing is recognised as the legal depiction of all legal statements. So if a ring on her finger is the way to go, so be it though I'm not sure how it will look, giving the 'bird' to a person might look odd with a wedding ring and an engagement ring on that finger.
