Were the opening credits for "The Body" inappropriate?

Am I the only one who thought that the opening credits for "The Body" a bit inappropriate for a special episode like The Body was?
 
You mean changing them into something like OMWF? Or Superstar? I don't know if I'd like that...

No I meant like just adding the opening credits in the episode at all considering how special and real the episode is make sense?
 
I'm not sure what you mean. Like the slaying was inappropriate because of Joyces death? Or that it was to up beat?

I've never thought about it, but no, I don't think I consider it to be. The show still is what it is and I don't think the intro should be changed just because the subject was what it was.
 
I'm not sure what you have in mind instead, but I'm relatively certain that the SAG contract requires some type of opening credits and I can't think of a way they could have been changed for that episode.

I don't see how...and how would they have changed it? Would they have played a classical version of the theme song? Haha I never really thought about it. I mean it didn't take away from the emotion or anything like that. Did it make you uncomfortable? Was it because of how upbeat the theme song is? I feel like it makes sense, that they didn't change anything. It's kind of like...even though this tragedy happened, it's still Buffy. Even though the feel of the episode is entirely different than any other episode of the show, in my opinion, it would have felt odd if they had changed the credits.

I can totally see them skipping the theme song and just having the credits roll during the episode. Think it would've worked great since it isn't any musical score in episode otherwise.

But having said that I can't say that I really mind that they used the usual credit.

I know what you mean, though I don't know if I think it was inappropriate. It felt "off" having them as usual. To me, after watching the beginning scene, they seemed so loud and out of place. I think the opening credits just seem abrasive because the rest of the episode is so quiet and muted.
 
I think I know what you mean... its like in One Tree Hill in the early seasons when there was a really different episode, something dark or sad, instead of the opening credits with the theme tune and the montage of the actors/characters there was just a black background with the simple words "One..Tree..Hill" in white writing and no music whatsoever! (Ultimately this became the standard opening credits after season 5 I think) I think it marks the solemnity of the occasion.

So I can see where you are coming from; I think it may have worked. But I don't mind the opening credits as it is... in fact I think the change from stillness to the loud sound of the theme tune and then back to the silence is quite effective in that it adds to the disturbing feeling I get watching it. There is a jarring in that contrast that unsettles me which is what the whole episode does.

So, you're proposing NO credits at all? You know that they can't do that, right? Like [MENTION=11161]patriot1123[/MENTION] said, they have to have them under contract. I suppose they could have changed it like other people have suggested, but I'm assuming that means more money.
 
And then, why only The Body? What about Restless or Hush? The Gift and every season final? And Chosen, that's the LAST episode! 🙂 There's no criteria to choose a "special episode"... 🙂
 
Seemingly, yes, you are the only one. They weren't excluded when anyone else died. I don't think it's prudent to not show credits.
 
I think it's better this way. We're reminded all the episode that, despite tragedy, life goes on (the vampire, the violation on Xander's war...). Having the regular opening credits emphasizes this point.
 
I always skip the opening credits, I just watched them every time when I started watching Buffy, but stopped after a few episodes.
