Were they playing a game in "Chosen"?

When Amanda, Giles, Andrew and Xander were in the dining room they were playing a game. Was it a game or were they strategizing battle?

It was meant to look like they were strategizing, but then you could tell they were playing a game. so yes, it was a game.

Is that not the episode they were playing Dungeons and Dragons? I thought they were actually playing it, 'cause Giles was all "and now I'm a wounded dwarf with the mystical strength of a doily.".

Yeah it was Dungeons and Dragons. The most popular role playing game ever. Started in 1974, and it remains popular to this day. Even I've played it. It's pretty fun. 🙂

Did anyone else think that this line had a very obvious double entendre surrounding it; that it was perhaps a bit of a commentary on his real life status as a watcher with regard to the failing relationship with his slayer? It always makes me sad when I hear this line.
