Much like Rayne puts it, I think it goes without saying that all plot holes and lingering loose ends need ALWAYS be addressed and resolved to achieve a TRUE sense of closure. That goes for ANY series, and most especially for BTVS. Many will say that Buffy came full circle, but that can never be true until someday down the line they decide to do a movie or series of movies that, hopefully, will tie everything up.
The final episode needed to be more epic in scale (yes, I know we're talking TV budgeting here, but trust me, it HAS been done), was too short (two hours was needed), was lacking in emotion in certain areas, and was too rushed.....that last point being totally representative of the whole second half of Season 7. The season started off promisingly enough, until the introduction of the SITs. After that it was as if Joss and Co. just didn't have it in them anymore, and just wanted to get it over with. And that leaves me dissapointed, especially after six and a half years of sustained brilliance, to just end things in such a way.
The final episode was ok for a REGULAR episode, but not as a series finale.
Let's just hope that, if and when it is time for the ANGEL series to move on ( *cough*....NEVER...*cough*...NEVER), that Joss and MUTANT ENEMY will have learned from past errors, put the heart back into their work, and do the fans some real justice.
