Werewolves' Life Span

Has it ever been established how long someone who is a werewolf might live if not shot or stabbed with silver? The two possibilities that I have read in other werewolf stories is that, the longer the person stays in their wolf persona (These are all stories where the person can control the change and the actions of their "beast") the more they are affected by the shorter life spans of canines in general, and the alternative is that werewolves, like vampires, are potentially immortal, as long as they can avoid silver.

I've always figured that they have normal human lifespans, as they pretty much are normal humans most of the time.
