Okay, so I am generally a bigger fan of AtS 'ships than BtVS ones; Wesley and Lilah easily being one of my favourite ever pairings, not only on Angel but possibly on the small screen altogether.

To me, personally, it was one of the most realistic and relatable relationships on both shows in terms of their feelings and actions. Lilah knew she was being used for comfort and relief while Wesley was at his lowest point, Lilah knew and resented that Wesley yearned for Fred and that she was on his mind and in his heart. While Lilah was trying to infiltrate and get Wesley on team W&H, behind all the mind games and deceit, I think Lilah was slowly falling for Wes. I loved watching that. The cold-hearted, business bitch becoming emotionally invested. Perhaps more so than Wesley. It seemed to me that for Lilah, this relationship could have been the first one for her with real true feelings of love. She came across almost like a lovesick teenager at points, desperate not to get dumped.

Do you think Lilah was capable of love, contrary to what Wesley believed? Do you think Lilah would have been capable of redemption?

Oh. And my holy hell, aesthetically, I'd say they were right up there with one of the most attractive couples in the B'verse. Look at them! And is it weird that I find Wesley having to decapitate his former lover also kinda.. sexy?

So, any love on the boards for Wesley and Lilah? Any love in their, short but significant, relationship? Sex and love, eh. Same thing.

Best ship ever - they were so complex, on many levels and with much intensity!
Oh, hell yes.

Lilah and Wesley are easily the most attractive couple in the Whedonverse. Lilah is also an adult - not someone we have seen grow up through adolescence, but someone who has left home both physically and emotionally. She never blames anyone else for the predicament she is in with her employment continuing after death or having to support her ailing mother. Similarly, Wesley has finally become an adult and even Angel acknowledges this when he asks Wesley, "How do you do it? How do you make the big decisions?"

In answer to the questions from @GwenRaiden:

1. Yes, Lilah was capable of love and she probably had as much dismay at falling for Wesley as Spike initially did in falling for Buffy.
2. No, she had already sold herself to the devil's own law firm (in exchange for the finest care for her mother) with eternal employment surviving death, so she could not be redeemed unless someone was to offer a bigger target (like Angel) for whom she could be exchanged. There is every indication that Wolfram & Hart delivered on their promise for her mother's care, so there was no breach of contract on their part.
3. For Wesley, decapitating Lilah was just another big decision he had to make and he chose correctly, even if it turned out to be not necessary. And yes, being able to make big decisions promptly without hesitation is sexy.

They were definitely falling for each other. On that note, do you think Wesley could've ever went public and admitted his love for Lilah to Angel and Co. before it got out and if they were on good terms at the time?

I think he would have, if those turn of events had come to pass. By the end two seasons of AtS Angel and Lilah were like old buddies, both from different sides of the war but a there was a mutual respect in the end. The only person I think who would have had a problem would have been Cordelia, you know, the real Cordelia. Fred wouldn't have been comfortable but probably wouldn't question Wesley's choices, especially since she started out with Gunn. But in the end, I don't think any of it ever would have occurred, in my head, Wesley and Fred were destined to be together - Lilah was there for him when he had no one, their relationship was part of Wesley's arc. And one of my favourite parts, too.

I think that Lilah was actually in love with Wes, and it was quite likely the first time that she had ever felt that way about anyone, which both thrilled and surprised her. Wes loved Lilah, and he could have been quite happy spending the rest of his life with her. That's not exactly the same as being all out, head over heels, in love, but I think that what he told Angel later about the ".99999 ad infinatum percent" of people settling for something less that total happiness would have applied quite well to him and his feelings for Lila.

I loved Wesley and Lilah together. They made for an interesting and dynamic pair. Did I see fat grandkids in the offing? No 😉 But that wasn't necessary. They had chemistry and really seemed to connect on a level. Also seeing that side of Lilah was great, she seemed to truly care, whereas Wesley was obviously kind of hung up on Fred. It had a great tragic feeling all along.

Not sure I'd call the decapitation sexy, hehe (you weirdo 😉) so much as a striking moment for the characters that made for great TV, and hinted that Wesley, even if it wasn't love, did care for Lilah as well. 🙂

I think you mean *sexy weirdo!
Wes would still drop Lilah for Fred in a heartbeat, but in an odd sort of way it's what they both needed at the time. Wes might've self-destructed had he not found solace.

I actually like Wesley & Lilah more than Wesley & Fred.

I ship Fred/Gunn & Wesley/Lilah

And yes... they are so HOT 😛

1. Lilah is capable of love definitely. Her reason to go to Wolfram and Heart was her mother, that means she loved her so much that she sold herself. That is a very huge act of love. In terms of Wesley, when Wesley says that they are in a relationship, she is as happy as a child, despite her normally mature, calculating nature, which indicates that she loves him. Additionally she is genuinely hurt seeing how much Wesley cares about Fred and is even jealous, this are again signs that she does love him and is capable of love.
2. As for redemption I think that everyone is capable of that in certain circumstances. With Lilah those circumstances are not given. She made her choices and is confident with them.

In terms of Lilah/Wesley in general:

I ship them and feel sorry for Lilah that Wesley has only eyes for Fred and does not see how much Lilah cares, claiming she is incapable to love.

I loved Wes and Lilah together! Their story was written beautifully and it provided drama without being overly dramatic in a season where most of the couples suffered from that (Cangel, I´m looking at you). I really enjoyed the simplicity of their relationship: they both knew what they were doing, took responsibility for it and acknowledged their feelings for one another without denial or guilt (Cangel, Spuffy??). So yes, I think Lilah was capable of love and could have been redeemed on Angel. However, I'm really glad they didn't. Not everyone is a good person underneath it all. I don't really believe that people are good or evil, but Lilah chose to be evil and was comfortable with her decisions and her actions. Even falling for a good guy who made bad choices didn't change that. And I respect Wes for not trying too. In fact, one thing I loved about their relationship is how they continued to be who they were while still falling for one another, there was no conflict there. And I loved how their ship ended in season 4. It was a very tender moment that spoke volumes about their feelings for one another.

Re-visiting this thread 🙂
Couldn't agree more. Maybe unrealistic but forget about Fred, I want a redeemed (non-ghost) Lilah and Wesley (non-ghost) in a suburban town with kids living a covert secret agent life. Or what the heck, they could have it in the ghost world. 😛 I know I said earlier that I didn't see fat grand kids in the offing, but it's the Buffyverse, stranger things have happened.

I liked their relationship. It was honest (sort of!). You know what I mean. They knew where each other stood, they knew not to trust each other and they were both in it for selfish reasons, but that was ideal for the both of them at that time, and to be honest, a relationship between consenting adults can be whatever they want it to be, or made of whatever they agree it's made of.

I love Wesley & Fred's very short time together (even if it felt a bit rushed) but I love the Lilah/Wesley build up more. It's not all in your face, it's not the greatest love of all, but it's raw and it's real and there's something special about that.

And yeah.... they're gorgeous! 😉

One of the most badass scenes is where Wesley and Lilah make love then Wesley opens the closet and shows Justine chained to the wall. And if she complains, he threatens to remove her chamber pot. Evil attracts evil.

Yeah badass - bu she was the only one who knew where Angel was since she sent him down to the bottom of the ocean for months, and she did slit Wesley's throat, steal the baby and left him to die. Plus lack of humor. If those circumstances ever occur to me, I would do the same.

Wesley and Lilah loved each other - but Wesley couldn't admit it to himself until after she died. They knew each other in ways he never knew Fred, and I am not talking about sex. I think he idolized Fred, but I don't think she could ever know him well enough to play him.
