Wesley and Weapons

well, when he's wielding it right, IE Angel and not so much season 3 of Buffy haha. or even season 1 of angel, when he put the axe in the wall. Yes, rugged, manly, sword swinging Wes is hot.

ooo actually, duel gun blazing wes is hotter!

that scene in season of angel when he puts the axe in the wall is hilarious.
I agree. I think he seems hotter because he finally found his niche. Whereas on Buffy and in the beginning of Angel, he was sort of the bumbling idiot of the group, learning how to use weapons sort of compensated for his physical weaknesses (relative to the rest of the group) and allowed his true intelligence and bravery to come out.

Also didn't hurt that he grew some stubble.

I think the fact that he became more jaded helped, too. Angel was a rather dark show. For Wes to have remained "Head Boy" forever would have made him a poor fit, kind of like Groo. I think part of Wes' transformation had to do with being cast out of the group and (finally) learning to fend for himself without the backup of the Council or Angel. Weapons were just a tool that enabled him to do that.

I agree. His transformation was somewhat necessary, and his use of weapons was a good way to show that early on.
Weapons and Wesley definitely have some sort of magic effect over me, makes me swoon. One of the very few that looks great with all the stubble as well.

I definitely agree that Wesley needed to learn to use weapons to survive without the AI gang.

Yeah Wes turns into a real James Bond with all those little gadgets. He turned out to be pretty kickass.

Ooh, that shotgun on his shoulder. I think shotgun is hotter than him. 😛 Yeah, I love playing game with shotgun. But Wes is definitely hot as soon as he takes his glasses off. Plus, that's sexy beard. 😉

The shot gun over shoulder...*drolls*
I think he took of his glasses, grew some stubble and grabed a gun...and somehow became this uber hunk.
I mean:
Not so hot:

That second picture of Wesley is the hottest thing EVER!
wow that picture is...wow. i'm gay and even i find him ridiculously attractive. especially with the facial hair and the new attitude.

I loved all his weapons... The guns. the ax's, even the one time with the sword... And I did find him hotter with a weapon. I really like it when he kicks ass.

Never seen such sluttery in one post lol..jk 😛 i love Wesley. dork Wesley and bad ass wesley, they all are so great. He's smarter than Giles and more kick ass than Spike, wonderful Wesley.

Wesley is cooler when weilding two guns, its an art not all characters can pull off.

I also always liked that cool colapsable sword thing he had, very cool.

Wesley was brains and attitude, way better than just brawn.

Deviating for the moment from how sexy Wes seemed to be when he was armed, I've always wondered why, of all the characters in the Buffyverse, on either show, he was the only one to quite often, if not always, carry a gun. Fred sometimes carried a tranquilizer dart gun, but that really doesn't compare with a .45 automatic or a 12 gauge shotgun.

I'm pretty sure Riley had a big handgun at one point. He pointed it at Angel after the latter was done kicking his ass.
Plus he used a grenade on a nest of vamps, which seemed reasonable effective.

My guess is training. Xander had some military training but it faded over time. Riley was military trained, but understood that gunfights in a small town like Sunnydale might bring the (stupid) local cops running.

In LA...I'm less sure. Wes was always a good shot (right from S1) it was pretty much his only physical natural talent. Maybe he just had an affinity with ranged weapons and decided to train himself.
I've no idea why the rest of the fang gang (or at least Fred and Cordy, who didn't have muscle to fall back on) didn't train more with ranged weapons. 😕

I always hoped that Wes would get himself a classic 1928 Thompson for demon huntint. Now, there's REAL firepower!

Yeah, I had forgotten about Riley (I find that very easy to do) but, still, other than when he was actually in uniform, with the exception of that single grenade, he was never shown carrying a weapon. Wes seemed to work on the philosophy that it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

That's because Wesley is an awesome action hero and Riley is a doof. 🙂

But seriously I always assumed, before Wesley started using guns, that they weren't really effective against demons. (I mean, some of Intiative are shown using automatic weapons in 'Primeval', during the big moster battle, but besides that...), And against vampires they're just useless.

But Wes used a shotgun on the Beast, and on a few demonic bar patrons whilst trawling the underworld with Faith, with some effect.
It's a puzzle...maybe everybody in the Buffyverse made the same assumption as me, except Wesley. 🙂
