Wes loved Fred and it was true love, but personally, i prefered seeing wes with lilah. It was like he was another man so it was different... Anyway, i picked 'wes/lilah'.

I always like messy relationships better than cutesy ones. Really, I liked both pairings. I love both Fred and Lilah. They're both awesome characters. Wes respected them both in different ways. But Lilah felt stronger. I know they both died, so neither one ended up that strong. And both deaths were tragic. But between the two, Lilah was the character who had more substance. She felt solid and real and tangible.

Here's the thing: Wes put Fred on a pedestal. She represented an ideal. Wesley loved and respected her goodness and her warmth. Eventually, she would have fallen from that pedestal or gotten tired of being placed on it because, as we know, she isn't just good and kind and warm. She's a complex individual, just like anyone else. With Lilah, it was different. Wes hated her at the start, but he grew to respect her for her ambition and her ruthlessness and her strength and her cunning. Her strength made him stronger. He became more confident. He began his own outfit. He saved Angel. He really became his own man.

Both relationships seemed doomed from the outset. But, to me, the relationship with Lilah seemed more beneficial to Wes in the long-run and, also, more real and exciting and true-to-life.

Wesley/Fred- I was a fan of this 'ship from the off. I thought they were so cute and well-suited. I was always rooting for those two crazy kids to finally see sense about the compatibility that us them. The closest to soul mates any of the A.I members could come.
And of course, in typical Evil Joss Style the moment the Fresley dream came true...what happened?

However Wesley/Lilah definitely had it's merits. I adored what Wes brought out in her. Kinda proved she was human after all...and kinda lonely. I think she did fall for Wesley even if he didn't in return. I mean she looked so hurt whenever he payed attention to Fred and covered up with vicious jealously.

So yeah I loved Lilah with Wesley, but I prefer Fresley if that makes sense. Hehe

Definitely Wesley/Lilah. Wesley/Fred are BORING, and I like Wesley/Lilah a lot, and I prefer Fred with Gunn a lot more. *shrugs* I think that's probably an uncommon preference, but whatever, I find Fred/Gunn a more real couple, and I like that. Lilah and Wesley, like I said in the Lilah thread, I think would learn to truly love each other and be interesting with it. Fred/Wesley were just...there. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the Wes/Fred pairing, but I don't find it particularly interesting.

Totally Fresley. Weslah's great, but it doesn't compare at all. The whole Gunn/Wes/Fred triangle was intense in S4. ("Face it Gunn, you can't give Fred what she wants." BURN) Then they FINALLY got together for like AN episode. But know one cares, they were soul mates. This couple is SO close to Tillow for first place.

EDIT: And REALLY not a fan of "Funn".

That's an interesting take on things. I think it would have been neat to see a reprisal of the Cordy/Wes attraction once they both matured a little bit (or a lot).

If I have to say between Fred and Lilah though, I'll say that Lilah and Wes was much hotter but I think that after everything, Wes definetly deserve to be with Fred

I think a long-term Wes/Fred relationship would have been boring. They were so well matched that there wouldn't really have been much room for growth. Because they had gone through so much and did deserve to be happy (and i think they would have made each other happy), I think they work as an endgame couple. But that is why I'm glad things changed so drastically after they got together -- endgame couples are only amusing for the happy ending.

I don't think that Wes and Fred were well matched. If they were . . . I think they were well matched superficially. On paper, Wes and Fred seemed perfect for each other. But from what I had seen in S4 and S5, I think they were in some ways, too similar for each other. I don't think they would have given each other balance as a couple. Worse, they harbored illusions about each other. And there seemed to be a hint of incest in their romance, despite the fact that they were not related. Perhaps it had something to do with Wes sometimes treating Fred more like a daughter, instead of a lover.

I voted Wesley/Fred not so much because of their romantic relationship, but because of Wesley's super-intense feelings toward Fred. His jealousy affected his working relationship with Gunn, and his protectiveness toward Fred motivated him to kill both Knox and the cyborg whom he thought was his father.

On a related note, Gunn's protectiveness toward Fred motivated him to kill Fred's former professor. What is it about Fred that makes guys want to kill for her? Gunn and Wesley possess very different personalities, but they were both very protective of her, to the point that it drove them to murder. I'm thinking it's probably her innocence and sweetness, which inspired semi-paternal feelings, and thus a "father killing to protect his daughter" mentality.

I think the idea of Fred/Wesley is nice and had Fred not died I think it probably would have blossomed into something great, which is heartbreaking. But we never got to see them in a real relationship, not really. And I big fan of Fred/Gunn so I'll say that Wes and Lilah were certainly interesting together and in their own dysfunctional ways they were in love. I think its not far fetched that had Lilah lived they might have settled down into a more normal relationship... maybe, lol.

I never like the whole idea of Fred/Gunn pairing. I couldn't stand it. It was really boring watching them two. Also, they had no chemistry at all and took way too long for it too end. Gunn was just a roadblock between WES and FRED from the start.

Gunn seems to be better off with Anne or Gwen. It seems to me that he was more connected with either one of them.

I did enjoy watching Wes/Lilah, because I liked the idea of sleeping with the enemy thing. You knew it wasn't going to last long but it was great watching them together while it lasted.

Too me, Wes/Lilah had better chemistry than Fred/Gunn any day.

But I would say have to say WES and FRED ALL THE WAY!!!!!!

Fresley of course! Two of my top three characters getting it on... yay! 😀 But I cried so much when Fred died and Wes was with her... completely heart breaking. A Hole In The World is definitely one of my favourite epps, but it makes me so so sad too. 🙁

My name pretty much says it all. I love him and Fred though I will say I didn't mind him with Lilah. I couldn't stand him with Virgina at all.
