What's your favourite (suppose to be) scary movie?

first off none of the screams are scary... actualy no film has SCARED me but i have my favs...

they are my fav (suppose to be) scary films i have got on DVD

ive DLed 'The Ring' but yet to watch it and same goes for 'Ghost Ship'. my bro said 'Signs' is scary but i cant be botherd to DLed it yet.
 
"Signs" and "The Sixth Sense" are about the best scary movies in recent history.

Here are some choices that make require some hunting in the video stores, but they are worth it...

"Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter" (Hammer Films, early 70's); a pre-Buffy Vampire slayer/mercenary!

"Legend of Hell House" (original 60's version with Roddy McDowell); you will jump off the couch at least 5 times watching this one.

"Frankenstein - The True Story" - this was a TV miniseries in the mid-70's; very spooky and grotesque; James Mason played a wonderful Polidori and Michael Sarrazin played the Creature.

"Dracula" (Dan Curtis version with Jack Palance as Dracula); really obscure but worth hunting for. When Palance goes all 'grrr'.... he really works it!!

ummmmmm Friday the 13th part 4........ thats the only movie that creeps me out........ i saw it at age 3 and haven't watched it since but i have seen almost anyother horror movie and thats the only one that gives me the creeps!
 
man...kronos looks hella gay with that wak cape and flaming leatard...lol

Friday the 13 was hella scary when I was young...now all scary movies aren't that scary anymore
 
Soulgasm: Before you pass judgement, you may want to give the Captain Kronos flick a chance.

The film is set in the 1700's (hence the period costumes), and includes some great vampire mythology, including...

- A youth-stealing vamp (instead of just a blood-drinker); the film alludes to various vampire species.
- Tracking a vampire with buried boxes containing dead toads (according to old Slovak legends, a dead toad will absorb some of a vamp's stolen life and reanimate)
- a grisly 'experiment' sequence where they have a captured a new vampire, but don't know how it can be killed.

There is also some really good swordplay (Kronos carries a Japanese katana!) and a killer bar scene with some local toughs (ala High Plains Drifter).

I liked the few Nightmare on Elms I've seen, and I actually enjoyed Scream, not a good movie, just to watch people getting sliced was kinda fun. great outlet for all your anger!
 
Ringu, The Sixth Sense, The Shining and IT are my favourite horror movies.

That is Ringu not The Ring, the Japanese original movie is far more scary and doesnt contain any jump-scenes which I dear godly hate in a horror movie.

Jump-Scenes are temporary frights while psychological horror effects stay with you.
 
i'm sure i could like kronos...but you have to admit his outfit is hella fruity...i'm surprised i don't see a codpeice...if he had a huge codpeice...that would make that dude a bit cooler
 
"It" majorly rocked, expect for the ending, which really sucked ... giant spider, how's that for lame!

That was added for the television version, the book did not contain a giant Spider 😛
 
Talking of spiders - scariest movie ever for me - Arachnaphobia - I know, lame but it absolutely scares me to death and is the only film I cannot watch without hiding my eyes!! Plus it wasn't for the fake looking big spider in it but all those little tiny spiders - *shudders*

Other than that, then I would have to say, the first time I ever watched 'Alien' and also 'Poltergeist'. They were pretty scary for me all those many, many years ago! Boy, they also make me feel *really* old now....
 
Speaking of feeling old, I think "Silence of the Lambs" was the *classic* scary movie.

"Sixth Sense" was a good one, too.

If you like "psycho-killer" drama, "The Watcher" (James Spader, Keanu Reeves, Marisa Tomei) is a surprising balance of heart-pounding suspense, screams and gore, dark humor, and big-city realism. (Best on the big screen in stereo, though.)
 
Two Asian films, Audition and The Eye. Now they are what I call scary films. If you want to see some truly superb scary movies, give the Japanese or Koreans a try. They poo all over Hollywood's best. 🙂
 
desolate_soul - i agree with you on signs, its only a twelve, but it scared the crap outta me!! (dont like any thing to do with aliens).

I loved the others and what lies beneath, and i really want to see the ring. i also like the scream trilogy.

I like I know what you did last summer, and I still know what you did last summer!!!

I didnt think Signs was scaring!!!
