Heather Mills has been awarded £24.3 million in her divorce settlement from Paul McCartney. The judge ruled that Mills will receive a lump sum of £16.5 million and assets worth £7.8 million. The ex-Beatle will fund their daughter's school fees as well as paying an annual child support sum of £35,000.

Speaking outside London's High Court, Heather said she was happy with the settlement: "I'm so glad it's over. It was an incredible result in the end to secure mine and my daughter's future."

"Obviously the courts do not want a litigant in person to do well," she continued. "It's against everything that they ever wished, so when they write the judgment up, they're never going to make it in my favour."

"But all of you that have researched know that it was always going to be a figure between £20 and £30 million. Paul was offering a lot less than that, which you'll see in the judgment, and very much last minute to put me and Beatrice sadly through this. It's incredibly sad."

The 40-year-old took the opportunity to encourage others to litigate in person, as she did after sacking her law firm several months ago. "It's not easy" but it will "save you a fortune," Heather said, adding that she saved £600,000 by representing herself in court.

As the impromptu press conference drew to a close, Heather attacked Paul's legal team and revealed she is to continue her legal battle by challenging the publication of the ruling. The judge revealed that she had sought £125 million and been offered £15.8 million by Paul. "I'm not appealing against the judgment because it's not worth it," she said. "I'm appealing against the publication of it because it has so many details of me and my daughter in it."

Now normally I don't care about celebrity divorces, but this one I have read about every single day.
This vile disgrace of a human being is just everything that is wrong with humanity.

She sees herself as some sort of heroine or something when all she is is a money grabbing whore.

Like Paul will let his daughter go without, you know. I recently read a great suggestion in a paper that the Judge should have done.

£40k a year to her to pay for nannies and what not(which is fair because he would be looking after HIS daughter 40% of the year which means he'd pay for her stuff then) and that Heather should get £5m for every Beatles song she wrote.

I'm with you, don't like her....never did. I think that whole debacle was a case of Paul's being lonely after Linda's death and jumping at the first person who showed him any sort of compassion (or pseudo compassion as the case may be.)

Personally I think it's a disgrace that she got £24 million! I mean she was married to him for 4 years! I don't care what the law says she had no claim to his money, he didn't make it when he was with her. I'm really surprised that he wasn't smart enough to have her sign a pre-nuptial agreement. Any lawyer worth his retainer would have advised it. It would have saved a whole lot of grief for everyone concerned. He probably could have gotten off with child support, plus maybe a sizable trust fund for his daughter.

Even so, I can see why, when there is a marked difference in wealth between one parent and the parent who is to receive primary custody, the courts might wish to redistribute some of that wealth in the direction of the primary custodian. I can also see how, even if things ended badly, you might want to see to it that the poorer partner leaves the marriage without going bankrupt -- or, in the case of insaneo-millionares like these, without dropping into a significantly lower standard of living. There must have been some reason why the courts determined that Mills was due a larger amount than that which was offered up by McCarthy. Did the published judgement say?

That said, I have no idea what was wrong with the original offer of 15 million. I'd take it, that's for sure. 🙂

I'll take the 15 mil (it'd be like 30 mil here in the states!!!) when you offer it to me when we divorice in a few years. I won't fight it. Frankly I agree with everything you've already said. This woman is absolutely VILE!

I was watching it on the tv last night and said to my mum about the amount of publicity it has recieved. It's ridiculous. I mean I haven't kept up with it too much to be honest but I know the main details.

Al's right she is a gold digger. She only married him for his money and frankly I'm still not sure why Paul didn't get her to sign a pre nup. £24 million is too much if you ask me. Fair enough she has to support her child but £1 million would have allowed her to comfortably do that. Look at all the families in the UK who survive on a lot less than that. It's just greed on her part.

£125 million.... what did she do to earn it! Even if she was incredibly gifted in the bedroom there's no way she should have got that much. The judge giving her £24 mill is still too much!

Now, I don't know all the ins and outs of their marriage break-up (for all I know Sir Paul may have been a real b*st*rd - then again he wrote Yesterday, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt 🙂) but the water-chucking tells me all I need to know about this silly, childish, publicity-hungry woman.
