what are the odds of a season 5 as of now?

I don't, I don't see why you should think this will be the last ... there have been no clues of this at all!
 
around 10 net articles saying that it may end soon... AND

the fact that WB changes angel's timeslot everytime it seems to have good ratings...
 
we do also know though, that UPN would love to pick it up. So, if WB drops it, UPN will surely grab it up with the probable ending of Buffy coming. I don't see an ending to Angel anytime soon. At least it better not end!

I have no hard core evidence that it will be ending except for this horrible gut feeling in the pits of my stomach which i keep trying to ignore cuz i really don't want Angel to end! It's bad enough that Buffy's ending!
 
I agree that I have a terrible feeling in my gut about this being the last season. At the same time though, it seems like the cast would like to keep the show on, Firefly and Buffy will both be gone at the end of the season so it would seem like Joss would like at least one of his shows to stay on, and as was mentioned before UPN would probably pick up Angel if WB dropped it so I don't think we really need to be worried.
 
We have to consider these points first...

Allright. Here is what we know:

1) Buffy is 99.9% ending this year, and if it's not, you can come and all stake me later, no pun intended.
2) That means UPN might be looking for a replacement, key word *might* . (aka, Faith Spinoff, ect.)
3) If Les Mooves, the CBS guy, was head of UPN 2 years ago, he probably would have never let UPN acquire Roswell or Buffy .. or so people say.
4) Joss signed a contract with UPN stating that if WB ever canceled Angel, it would securely fly over to the UPN.
4a) We have to ask ourselves, is that contract expired?
4b) Now that CBS owns UPN, and Dean Valentine left UPN, does that contract still stand? Or in other words, is UPN still obligated to pick up 'Angel' now that it is run by new executives?
5) Angel doesn't have all-star ratings like, say, 7th Heaven or Smallville. However, it does have strong Male Demographics, and thats what The WB loves.
6) 'Angel' is the last link to Buffy The WB has. But now that Buffy is ending this year (again, PROBABLY ending), does The WB want to tear off relations between 20th Century Fox? (Hey, it did it with Roswell)
7) Angel just moved to its new Wed. Night. We will have to see how it does in the ratings and in sweeps.
8) The WB has stated many times it is happy how 'Angel' has been performing this year creativly (sp?). The WB also loves Joss Whedon, don't forget that 'Buffy' put The WB on the "spot", and "Buffy" is what made "Angel".
9) These are all but talks as of now. Nothing has been said neither by FOX nor The WB. And besides, if it were to get canceled, I am most definate that Joss wouldn't give up without a fight to give 'Angel' a new home. (That is, if UPN does not apply).

Any feedback to any of those?
Personally, I would rather Angel stay on The WB then move to UPN.

Joss said he plans for Angel to go on beyond season 4. there will be a 5th! that is a hardcore solid fact!
 
Angel Season 5 is definatly happening! David turned down the role of Superman in the new movie because he wouldn't have time to do it (because he would be filming Angel season 5).
 
still i couldn't realy see David in blue leatards with red pants pulled over the top! cinda funny! hehe.
 
Joss plans for a season 5. The stroy he is trying to tell is not wrapped up in 4 years, he still has more to say. Unfortunately Angel's ratings are LOW. "Deep Down" and "The House Always Wins" had the highest ratings so far this year and that was with like a 2.6. Meanwhile Smallville is averaging with ratings of like 8.5.

A month or so back UPN talked about how if they had the chance to pic kup Buffy now, they wouldn't have done it because it costs them a lto of money and the ratings are also terrible (same as Angel's). They were also saying how they are really focusing on having shows with good ratings now. This is why I find it hard to beleive they would want another Buffy spinoff (or Angel for that matter), because ratings are/may be low, and that isn't what they want.

Joss says if a Season 5 of Angel does happen, he has big plans and a lot of big changes, which makes me want to see what he has planned even more. The only reason I dobut Angel would be cancelled is because the WB makes the renewal decision in May, meaning filming is done. Angle is the kind of show that you need to have a planned finale for. If they decide to end at Season 4, it means they probably won't have the closure and final ending Joss has wanted all along for Angel. Lets all hope for the best.
 
What are raitings like in the UK? So why are Angel and Buffy doing so bad now? It looks like Angel will get a 5th season but sadly it looks very doubtful their will be a 6th. Have Angel's raiting's always been this low of have they just gone through a bad periode?
 
The ratings so far in the US are FAIR. It is averaging a 3.5 for the past 2 new episodes out of the 8 new ones there are.
Angel ratings were really good in Season 1 and Season 2, it had ratings like Smallville. Like 6 Million. It went down each season though.

There will be a season 5 no matter what, it depends on The WB if it will renew it!
Now that it is OFFICIAL that Buffy is ending, Angel will not be given up now.

And I am too excited for the "big" changes that are planned for Season 5.
Maybe show some episodes in daylight? (hah, just kidding)
 
I have hope that Angel will have a season 5. If it does move to UPN for some reason, Angel should have the same time slot as Buffy. If they put it on at 9 p.m., the show will go under. UPN should know by now not to put at show on at 9 p.m. on Tuesday because the ratings will suffer. (Example: Roswell, Haunted, etc.) I think that the WB will keep Angel.🙂 🙂
 
Who knows, there has been talk that UPN will cease to exist as a network alltogether because it's performance is way below standards. It is lowest network out of the 6 major ones.

But Les Mooves will totally take control of the lineup in Fall. Remember CBS only got control of UPN in mid Novemember.
That means that CBS didn't have control of the lineup for Fall.

Except B I G changes to UPN this fall.
So ANGEL may not be a part of it's future.
 
Yes, that's like what I posted. UPN most likely is not interested in Angel and I am surprised they are interested in a Buffy spinoff period because of Buffy's poor ratings. If WB does renew Angel this May, it will up to season 6. It is a two year contract. Based on the facts that Angel's ratings have gone down every yea,r they may not want to be contracted to it for two years. I sincerely hope they do renew though becuase the networ kmay not realzie it ,but they have a real goldmine at their disposal.
 
Correct me if im wrong but isnt Buffy one of the top rated shows on UPN?
 
Buffy might be top-rated on UPN, but it doesn't say much. As it was stated in previous posts in this thread. UPN's ratings in general are very low and the network is having serious changes to boost ratings as much in possible because they are in dire need of help. Buffy's ratings were higher in Season 6 as well. It seems that ratings just continually drop each year in Buffy and Angel lately. Hopefully Buffy's finale will break the trend of the 2.4 and 2.6 and make it to atleast 5. something. That would be nice.
 
Well, Buffy and Angel are both two of the highest grossing TV shows when it come to DVD sales. I believe Buffy might in fact be #1 while Angel is somewhere around #3. Assuming the networks get a piece of this it could make the show worth keeping around for monetary reasons despite relatively low ratings.
