What are they doing now?

You've got to be a real chameleon in the acting business and in your acting skills to keep going and getting the higher acting jobs. Not everyone has that wide spectrum. Like everyone else has said it doesn't matter if your the extra who only has a 2 minute scene or the lead actor/actress in a 7 year hit show, its down to your skills and diversity as well as your choices in the roles you take. Sadly Sarah hasn't made the greatest choices in her film career unlike David and Alyson who are in two of the biggest shows going at the moment. It can take moving on from one show, to show another how well you can do with having the spotlight on yourself for a change.

Its all about the luck of the drawer at the end of the day. Its not down to your position but how well you portray that role you have been given and that you can add something to it that makes people see that you are really good actor or actress and that you can keep yourself from being type cast.

I don't think that necessarily true.

Sarah was the star of the show, yes, but she was definitely NOT the best actor on that show, as her limited success has proved. More times than not, people like Eliza, Michelle and James completely blew her out of the water. Joss himself said he gave Sarah 'sad scenes' because she was better at crying than she was at laughing. Surely a 'good' actor should be accomplished at both, and the director/writer/producer wouldn't say something like that about her?

I feel like I have to take issue to this. Eliza is not a very good actress. Personally I cringe inwardly every time she does that "breakdown" scene in Angel. YMMV but most people I know would tell you SMG is much better at what she does.

Cringe? c'mon have you saw dollhouse?
Daniel Dae Kim who played Gavin in Angel is on LOST... how could we all forget that one?

Josh Holloway who was in the pilot episode of Angel at the very beginning is also on LOST.

I think Sarah is good at what she does in terms of playing Buffy. Her performance in Cruel Intentions was good too but past that?

After watching Dollhouse, particularly towards the end of season two Eliza is outstanding. And for me it wasn't just her 'playing all these different' roles where she got better but as Echo, by the end, she was phenomenal.

She was given the opportunity to show what she's made of and she took it. I don't feel that Sarah was either given that opportunity, or sought for it. But maybe she didn't want to? I don't know. I saw something about James Van Der Beek recently and him saying that being the star of Dawson's Creek affected him taking on other roles. I think he just said he was exhausted so he took a break for a while and has only flitted about since. Made me wonder if SMG felt the same?

I'd say Julie Benz is doing well. Starring in Rambo and several Emmy-winning TV series.

Alyson always seems to find high-profile starring roles.

Boreanaz stars in the hit drama Bones.

Marsters made a $100m movie recently (DBE), but it bombed.

As for socializing, I saw a paparazzi shot of Alyson & Alexis not too long ago, and they were at lunch with Tom Lenk.

Boreanaz said that he doesn't socialize with cast mates in his personal time except for his best friend Christian Kane (Lindsey) and the late Glenn Quinn.

And I get the impression that Sarah Gellar & Seth Green socialize, but then it seems like Seth Green's friends with everyone in Hollywood.

And as I said in a different thread, Boreanaz, Marsters, Baldwin, Fillion, and NPH have been the core stars of Bruce Timm's new DCU franchise, so I wouldn't be surprised if those guys ran into each other between sessions. And since most of them have pummeled one another on-screen, I'm sure they'd at least say hello.

Marsters & Blucas guest stared on Lie to Me back-to-back. Marsters died, and Blucas was only mediocre as the slimy business man...

Nick Brendon was just arrested, and J August has starred on four high-profile series, all as a lawyer.

Well, about Sarah. I will be honest. Before I discover Buffy I just considered her a cute, pretty girl and hadn't seen any movies to consider her a good actress.

When I watched Buffy, I saw how much people underestimate her. I have had a discussion with my sister about it. She is G R E A T! So many feelings, all portrayed with perfection. Even when she didn't like sth(season 6) she executed it truly well. That proves how good and professional she is! She amazed me! Since then I had watched Cruel Intentions, Simply Irresistible,Scooby Doo...and I would like desperately to see Veronica decides to die. I think it's gonna be superb!

And I disagree with Joss about the crying being better than laughing. Yeah she is amazing when she cries, makes me wanna cry as well, she really feels her role! But Buffy as a character is not supposed to laugh much! I mean look what she's been through!!! In "Beer Bad"...although as an episode I didn't like it much, Sarah was hilarious!!!

About Eliza, she is certainly great as Faith. I haven't seen much of her, only Tru Calling and I didn't know it was her(before I discover the show) and she was nice. I don't wanna compare.

I've been rewatching the West Wing & I was tickled to spot Eric Balfour (the erstwhile Jesse) in ep 6 of season 1 playing Drunk Frat Boy#3. So I checked his IMDB & it seems Eric has done very well for himself, he had 12 eps in Six Feet Under (which after reading, I totally remember) & 28 eps in 24. Not bad at all.

Another one from the West Wing. Shortly after turning into a snake & being blown up, Harry Groener aka Mayor Wilkins can be seen portraying Secretary of Agriculture Roger Tribbey in the season 1 episode He Shall From Time to Time... I mention this only because Harry's character is chosen by Josh to stay behind in the White House during the state of the union in case anyone blows up Congress, killing everybody else in the order of succession and the episode ends with a very interesting visual. Mayor Wilkins standing alone in the Oval Office, now there's a scary thought. Ascension indeed !!

Ok, this is my 4th post in a row on this thread... I watch way to much TV. I'm watching a TV movie called Gryphon (2006) right at this exact moment starring Amber Benson opposite Jonathan LaPaglia. Amber plays a princess who must find a magic pike (the weapon, not the fish) to defeat an evil wizard who is attempting to conquer two warring kingdoms & become immortal. LaPaglia obviously plays a prince from the opposing kingdom to Amber, they predictably fall for each other after, more predictably, not being able to stand each other. To be honest it's not that bad, the plot is hackneyed, the dialogue is cliched & some of the acting is truly awful... actually that all sounds quite bad, where was I going with this ? Oh yeah, if you're in to movies that don't have to be good to be good then this is one for you. I'll give Amber serious credit, she really goes for it & is the best thing in this movie by a mile. There are just some lines that even Olivier couldn't make work i.e. "He has spoiled you with his seed !!". I've said it before, actors gotta act, I'm guessing Amber got a decent wad for this role & of course, union card. Good god, just got to the dramatic final battle scene, LMFAO, is all I have to say about that. Still, it's not as bad as that dragon flick Amy Acker was in *shudders*. Last thought, the credits are now rolling & the crew is almost entirely Romanian, guess Amber at least got a nice trip to Romania.
