What Are We?

How 'bout "The Sunnydalers?" It's EXTREMELY related to the show and I like it! Lol.

- TC (Or we could just all call ourselves "The Chosen." 😛 JK, of course. Or am I?)

lol We are "The Chosen" We are you!!!!

or The Slayers eh,..

or Scoobies eh,...

are we really called anything? :cry:

The Chosen
The Chosen
So if you're all me, then that means I'm made up of you. You are ALL my parents, so to speak...whoa. :p
I prefer Scoobies to anything so far. I think if we start putting that name places with a description people will finally start to catch on and it will be around the world before you know it.

So what I will do is on my facebook you get a title. Like 'my name here' is... so I am going to put is a scoobie...thanks to Buffy! or thanks to Buffy and Angel etc.
I will do the same on my myspace. If we all do something like that once we decide what nickname would be best, I think it would be awesome. I mean come on, BB people have named Buffy fans...truly a mastercard moment. ( For those of you who have no idea what I mean by that...Priceless!)

So maybe a poll or something would decide this?
Scoobies
Slayers
Slayerettes
Watchers and the rest should all be choices and we should vote. And if we all agree to the final outcome than it should be so.
YA?

I like Scoobies and BB is like our Scoobie central...

I like Scoobies. It's collective and it covered every member of the gang in the show, including Buffy really, so it includes every fan whether they're a passing by Scooby a la Cordelia or pure bred Scooby like one of the core four.

I don't think Sunnydalers would work since there isn't a Sunnydale anymore 😛

Firefly fans go by "Brown Coats", Scoobies although the name used to collectively refer to the group aiding the Slayer (well Buffy anyway) sounds a bit corny and too likely to make us all sound like the Scooby-Do fandom *shrugs*

Since they are the Chosen, part of the Chain, maybe something related to either of those?

Hmm...you make a good point (welcome to the boards by the way) about people mixing us up with scooby-doo fans....I guess we can't assume that people will automatically know we're referring to Buffy fandom and not Scooby doo. But I don't think Scooby Doo has such a fandom that they have a title or that if they did, that it would be Scoobies.
But either way, maybe that means Slayerettes is the better choice?

I don't think slayerettes sounds as good, especially for the guys. It sounds very feminen even if it doesn't mean to.

Buffers?...it kinda sounds like something you would find in a car wash! although its a great Buffy fan fic site!

Scoobies still gets my vote. I'm not so sure the Scooby Doo thing has a fan base that would name itself, so I'm not so sure that there is anything with which to clash.

That's what I was thinking/saying. I mean people like the cartoon but I don't think it has a fanbase per se, at least not one large enough to name
I know being a guy I can still be very feminine but going all out to be called "Slayerette" is still a bit much for me 😛

And yes Buffer either refers to an impact absorption thingy like the ones that trains used to use, or to a device that takes in energy or data, stores it and releases it in a more regular fashion that the imput. Like an electric or data buffer. So that ones vague too.

This is a tough one: erm :

Look at you and all your knowledge!😉

this shouldn't be this hard! There must be something!!.....I got nothin': erm :

Hey nothin' wrong with knowledge!...We really suck at this name thing

Don't worry Keanoite; don't feel bad! We've had lots of threads and polls on this topic in the past, but we've never really come up with anything mindblowingly appropriate.

Most common problems are that either the words is too feminime/masculine and isn't appropriate for both men and women. OR and this is the biggest problem most of the time: the word doesn't really cover both Buffy and Angel.

Hmmm.....it is damned hard. Maybe one day one of us will just be watching an episode and the most perfect of all perfect phrases will be spoke and that person will be like 'yes! that's it!' total eureka moment haha.
How did Trekkies come up with Trekkies? Or did some non-trekker come up with it?In which case...maybe we need someone whose only seen a few episodes to like typcast us. haha.
Like Allycat said, one of the problems seems to be a term being too masculine or feminine. Maybe we should come up with gender specific? haha. I think we'd be the first fanbase to do so (at least to my knowledge).
Hmm....this discussion has reminded me of a Buffycon they just had recently where they had specific tickets you could buy there was like 'Potential' level, 'scooby' level, 'watcher' level 'slayer' level 'chosen' level- I think in their ticket world they covered everything we've come up with and discarded haha

It's weird though given how fantabulously quippy the show was that we can't come up with anything fitting?

I am a Star Trek fan too, and no ones exactly sure where the name came from for the fans. There are both "Trekker" and "Trekkie", and constant arguments over which one is right or if both of them are right and that "Trekkie" is the hardcore fan group who know everything and "Trekker" would be the casual fan.

Star Trek = Trekker
Stargate = Gater
Farscape = Scaper
Dr Who = Whovian
Star Wars = Warsie
Firefly = Brown Coat

Dingoes!!!!! lol
Mostly just called Buffy Fans cause all the others are to vague i guess :: vampire: idk
