Confession time. So this was the very first song I ever cried to. I remember when I was a little kid, about seven or eight, and every time this song would come on the radio, I would just break down and cry. (Yes, I was very sensitive) My grandma would walk up to me and say, "now Marshall, hush with that crying, you don't even know what the song's about!" I'd be like, "but Nana it's so saaaad!!!!" Right? I never heard that song again until my junior year of high school, and I had went through a disastrous breakup. Coincidentally, the night after, I heard this on the radio, and in an instant, I could relate to and understand every single word. That's when the waterfalls really started to come down. The worst feeling in the world is loving someone who doesn't love you back, and that helplessness you feel when you realize that there's nothing you can do about it. This song is the perfect time capsule, because the feelings I had that night come rushing back so vividly every time I hear it. Here endth the confession. 😉
