At Whedonesque a member there quoted this bit from an old Joss Whedon interview as an example of stuff he hopes is addressed in the upcoming canon Buffy Season 8 comic.

Q: This might be more fanwank, but in Fray you have that bit where you touch on what happened to all the magic and demons and that didn’t happen at the end of Buffy, which I sort of expected. Is that the kind of thing we should just forget about?

Whedon: No, that’s actually something I hope to deal with, either in the Spike format or in another series of Fray.

Q: Are there plans for another series?

Whedon: That’s just me talking. But yeah, there’s a discrepancy there that I plan to explain. I have a vision for it.

I think the "discrepancy" he's talking about there is the one that goes, "how is it there are multiple slayers after Chosen, yet there only appears to one in Fray?".

So what are you hoping to see in Season 8?

* The resurrection of a dead character such as Tara, Joyce, or Anya?
* The scythe?
* The return of a particular big bad?
* Hints on what happened to Angel and his crew in the alley?
* More about Dawn and her Keyness?
* Explanation of Buffyverse mysteries - Dimension Crossing, The PTB (do they care about Buffy), All the questions concerning Season 7(only through Faith, or through Buffy in Season 7)?
* Something else.

i'm not sure i'd be so into an explination about the guys from Angel. that, to me, suggests that it should have it's own run, although i know that there aren't any plans for that right now.
i'd like to see the reappearence of a deceased character...Tara especially. i think they could really do something with that.
i would like at least a small explination of why there's only one slayer by the time Fray comes along. maybe in the form of a theory from Giles.
i'd like to see Dawn grow as a person. maybe not develop any left over keyness, but fianlly become the adult that she could have been in S7 had the writers not felt that they had to continually remind us that she was still a child.
not sure about any big bad's, i'll leave that to the writers.
as for the scythe, i can't even begin to imagine what Buffy might do with it. it obviously makes it's way to Fray, it's just a question of how if there are no more Slayers to pass it on.

I would like to see Cordelia get revived and run away with Spike.

But seriously, I would love to know about Dawn's keyness because there just has to be more to it. More about the PTBs would be cool too cuz they were never mentioned in Buffy even though they are a big part of the Angelverse.

-Appearance of dead characters, as spirits.
-At least one appearance of Angel, Spike and Iilyria/Gunn.
-Lots of Xander.
-Not too many Slayers, focus on Buffy
-Angel and Buffy getting back together
-Spike and the Shanshu, either trying to fufill it or end up making it invalid

Didn't know you were a Bangel.
I wouldn't like to see the resurrection of a dead character such as Tara, Joyce, or Anya, wouln't mind it if was a ghost thing, but even then only if it is part of the storyline and not just "Oh we can bring tara back now cuz we don't have to get amber benson back" kinda thing.

The scythe, definetly I hope Buffy's still useing it!

and I hope some of the chosen line stuff gets addressed!

return of a particular big bad?

I have no clue who this is going to be. what is everyone thinking on this that it will be one of the season finales bad guys, Glory, The Master etc...?

Hm. I definitely don't want a dead character to return.. I mean, if they did, I'd probably be happy about it 'cause I bet Joss would make it all cool and stuff, but nah, I'd prefer no dead characters returning..

I really just look forward to being back in Buffyverse, and this is the first time I'll actually watch/read it while it happens. I mean, I didn't get into BtVS until it had ended, and same with Angel.. So. All cool 🙂

* The resurrection of a dead character such as Tara, Joyce, or Anya?

Erm...Same as epo. I'm sure if they do it'll be kl.

* The scythe?

Buffy season 8 without the scythe is like bread without butter. Its just not as good.

* The return of a particular big bad?

The first....try and make it better somehow? and Drusilla. Finding out what shes been up to since last tim we saw her would be nice.

* Hints on what happened to Angel and his crew in the alley?

I thought joss was staying clear of revealing what happened but of course it'd be cool to find out.

* More about Dawn and her Keyness?

Never liked Dawn that much, but is giving her powers because of her keyness a bit of a cop out? The tearful xander-dawn moment in season 7 where they talk about being the guys without powers...kinda might ruin if if she ending up all powery.

* Explanation of Buffyverse mysteries - Dimension Crossing, The PTB (do they care about Buffy), All the questions concerning Season 7(only through Faith, or through Buffy in Season 7)?

Whilst it'd be nice to have all the questions answered I think its good that some things are left up to discussion. There are masses of topics on these subjects on these boards...

* Something else.

Initiative involvement.
Willow without Kennedy.
Faith without Principal Wood.
Giles with an interesting story that'll be so good it sparks up a mahoosive worldwide interest in Giles character and the 'Ripper' spin off will be made! We've waited long enough! 😛

I want to see just exactly what Whedon's vision of the Immortal really is, and just what Buffy finds so attractive about him.

Didn't read the spoiler thread, eh? I'll tempt you one more time with some news about Buffy and the Immortal. A clip came out from the comic. Naturally people blew it up to read it, and what it said was
there are doppleganger (duplicate) Buffys. There are 3 of them. One of them Andrew set up with the immortal, because he thought it would be funny

What do I wanna see in Season 8? EVERYTHING. ANYthing. I don't care, as long as it's Buffy!

Some things are more interesting than others to me, tho. I do want to see the scythe. I think the thing is a character all it's own, it has a history, work to do (or it's done some of it's work already, more to come), power to bestow, etc. Would love to see Tara come back in any way, shape or form. I didn't particularly care for Kennedy, wouldn't mind if she just...went away. The cameo appearance of someone from Angel-verse would be fun, I think.....preferably Illyria, but I'll take what I can get. Would be nice if she could mention that Angel and the rest are alive/un-alive and kicking it on the French Riviera or something.....I agree with Lyri on that, tho, the full story should be saved for future Angel projects......one can hope, I guess! I'd like to see Dawn take up the watcher's mantle. Hmmmm, I'd almost kill to see Darla and Dru again.......And Jonathan! I want Jonathan back!

I want.. CORDELIA!!! even as a spirit! At least once!! I want to see the core gang back together, I want to see Kennedy dead/dieing/gone.. I want to get some idea what happened to Angel's gang (HEY HEY MAYBE THRU CORDY!!).. I want to see Glory again too. She was a god, how could she just die??!!!
I want Dawn to play a bigger part, maybe with her powers..
I think it'd be interesting to see Buffy sort of go a little bad, coz she never really has. Maybe like a S3 Faith, but not to those extremes.. but I don't know if anyone would back me on that, lol..

a few people keep saying that willow's story is done so they don't want her to have one. well, i really like willow (and im sure some of the people who said that do too), so i want to see a story for willow that is so good and works so well, that it is a story worth telling. i would want her to have a story, not be a side character, and i would want her story to be one that makes everyone who said the aforementioned say "it's a good thing they didnt just end her story the way it was when season 7 finished". i dont know exactly how possible that is, but it is ideally what i would want to see.

id also like to see dead characters return, especially anya and tara, but only in a way that would make sense.

Easy!

More Buffy the Allmighty, more Giles the Cool and Allknowing and more Xander "Maybe I can fight after all" Harris

PS. And a little Dawn "This key thingy is really cool" Summers to spice the mix wouldn't hurt at all

To be honest I'm not thinking too much about what I want to see happen in season eight yet. There is so much that could happen that I'm happy to let Joss surprise me.

If I had to pick on one storyline that I wanted to see addressed though, it would have to be Dana. She had so much potential as a character that I think it would be a crime not to develop her further.

I find that storyline mighty suspect. I'm not suspicious that it won't happen, I'm wondering what brought it about. I've read a lot of comments in the past two years about Buffy and the Immortal and the trustability of Andrew. I wonder if Mr Whedon has been cruising the mean streets and read similar criticisms.

Season 8 should only be told if there is a story to tell, if its about correcting errors then it will suck.

ya I heard that Joss read all the critisims and decieded to fix the situation to Buffy never actually went that route with him.

Which is what I would imagine is Joss' opinion too.

He never struck me as a guy that would care about fan opinion if he was happy with things as they were. He is internet-savvy enough to realise that you can't please everyone all of the time and that there is no point trying. I think that if he is altering the whole Buffy/Immortal story at all then it's because he himself wasn't comfortable with it and so wanted to go in a different direction for his own storytelling purposes.

Having Buffy tied to a relationship right fom the start, especially one with some mysterious good/bad guy, would be a real bind to letting the season eight story develop. Better to brush it under the carpet. Although I'd still like to see the story of what happens when the Immortal discovers that he is dating a Buffy-lite.

What if "secret agent Buffy" we see in the comic cheats isn't the real Buffy? She just thinks she is. What if the real Buffy is "Slutty Buffy" we see in Girl in Question. Just kidding (I think 😉 )

Anyone else getting a Jamie Madrox vibe from this whole multiple Buffy thing, hehe.
