What Are You Reading #2

Do audio books count in this thread? I didnt realise! I listened to lots over summer.

Right now reading The Heretics Daughter from the street library.

Almost finished my re-read of wild swans too (inspired by @nightshade )
 
The Farmers Wife. The first five chapters took place at a sex toy party 😐 it would be cancelled with the language it uses.
Only up to chapter 10, not sure where its going to go, but seems like it was written by someone around my age so its refreshing to have something closer to home.
Its going in the street library when Im done. Someone around here is sure to get a laugh out of it. I picture the town very much like my town.
 
You Like It Darker by King.

Someone elsewhere mentioned a bottling issue on the internet…I think it was @November ? In full swing online with this book. Everyone is giving insane praise to this book that is so amateur it’s unreal. Several stories are ripping form his earlier ones, one of the stories is a blatant rip off of one he did in the 70s, etc. One of the stories has a horrendously lazy/cliché “surprise serial killer” twist in the last two sentences that is just so lame and poorly executed and I’ve seen people say “absolutely brilliant twist, I didn’t see this coming at all!!!!!”

I’m about halfway through the book and only 2 of the stories are worth reading, with 2 of them being downright insulting and lazy. This book reeks of “put whatever out because it’ll sell due to the name on the cover”
 
The Stand is done and dusted, finally. Reading the Dead Zone now, a book I’m very excited for. Loved it the first time through.
 
Force of Nature
Lady goes missing in the bush.
Really enjoying this one. Slow burn but not frustrating, short chapters and very easy to follow. A nice patio book.
 
The Thousandth Floor. Looking forward to this one, seems like it might be my sort of Bold and Beautiful storyline. Only one chapter in.
 
@Plasma have you read Misery yet? If not can you let me know when you do and I'll read it with you, its one on the book poster and I've not read it before.
 
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I find her books are easy reading ones, which I need to get back into reading again.

Also rereading Harry Potter series.
 
Boy on a wire. More suited to teenage boys than me. Still, fun to read about boarding school from the boys perspective. Will go back to the street library for the next kid destined to that fate.
 
Lesson before Dying by Ernest Gaines. So far, it's good, though the topic is depressing, a young man on death row for a crime he didn't commit. I'm subsisting on little-library books, because our library system has been down a month due to a ransomware attack, and you can't order books, only get ones off the shelves, which are getting rather skint, because they aren't reshelving anything returned.

Memoirs of a Geisha

About half way through it currently, it's a bit slow in places but overall enjoyable.

I read the Kite Runner years ago, and had these one to read for a while too, so finally getting around to it.

I'm trying to either use the library or read ones I already have.
