With no new Buffy comics until August, what are you reading in the mean time? I just bought the first TPB of Emily the Strange, like it so far.
 
I've just finished Buffy Omnibus Vol. 5(Not that I've read Vol. 1-4 😛). I don't have any more comics, except the old S8 issues I've read for the first time. Predators and Prey isn't that bad, though. 😀
 
Yeah, Joss' stuff got me reading comics. Here's what I've been on:

Angel #33 & 34 (Immortality for Dummies arc)
The Return of Bruce Wayne #1 & 2
Superman/Batman Annual #4 (Terry McGinnis' DCU debut)
Batman Beyond (June 2010) #1

Of the ones I read, Batman Beyond #1 has me hooked the most, because, as someone who knows nothing about the comic book Batman, it's a treat, since its back-story is the TV series from a few years ago, rather than other comics (similar to Buffy).

Angel #33 had me smiling too because it did the two things I've been begging for the past few months: it retconed the worst of Armstrong's Angel run, and it explained why Spike has new healing powers.

Superman/Batman Annual #4 also picked up from the TV show, but I hated how grim and tragic they made Superman out to be in his old age.

Angel: Barbary Coast and The Return of Bruce Wayne so far have made me feel similarly. They both feature characters I love, but without the memories that make them the heroes that they are. Barbary Coast takes place in the past, and TRBW features an amnesiac Bruce Wayne also in the past. So interesting reads, but not very engrossing...

TRBW did help me with one thing, it answered my age-old question of Batman vs. Buffy. Based on TRBW, it's hands-down Batman. Even with amnesia, he's doing things Buffy couldn't dream of. I don't know that even Super-Buffy (S8) would stand up to him, since at the end of #2, he bested Superman face-to-face...
 
I've been catching up with Jack of Fables, Air, and Runaways in trade paperback form.

Still up on the ongoing Angel series? Willingham retconned the parts that I took issue with...
Since I stopped reading the Angel comics after After the Fall #17 I have decided to carry on with them. Going to get issues #18 to #33, the Angel: Only Human mini series, the Spike: The Devil you Know mini series, the Last Angel in Hell one-shot and the Lorne one-shot.
Should keep me going until September! (Also going to read the Riley one-shot in August.)

Adam, don't let #18-22 scare you off. That's Armstrong's arc, and it's terrible. The characters aren't drawn or written remotely like themselves, and each issue is riddled with continuity errors. I will say it's a must read though, since from #33 forward, Willingham has begun explaining all of the continuity errors seen there in a very interesting twist.

I thought Angel: Only Human was good up until the very last few pages which create a humongous continuity error
saying demons have souls too
which is really unforgivable in my book since that concept has been the linchpin of the 'verse.

Also, I'd sooner get Angel #34 than Last Angel in Hell (if you have to choose between the two) since the latter is just a poorly written spoof....
 
Thanks for the advise! Strangely about three minutes after I wrote that both the Angel: Aftermath TPB (18-22) and the Angel: Only Human TPB were delivered. Will start reading Aftermath when I get home from school, although from what I have heard they wont be as good as I hoped. Quite looking forward to reading issues 33+ though.
 
I'm re-reading Peter David's current X-Factor run. I am a tad bit obsessed with that one, let me tell ya. Got only six issues left though. 🙁

I just discovered Fables and I love it! Currently waiting for TPB's 9-12 to ship. *grabby hands*

A friend also lent me his collection of the Batwoman run of Detective Comics. He says I'm going to love it and be heartbroken in the end, lol. So I have mixed feeling about reading that now xD

Have been meaning to catch up with Birds of Prey and Gargoyles, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Meh.

What else, what else?

Series I currently follow and highly recommend are X-Factor (who'd'a guessed?), Hawkeye & Mockingbird, Black Widow, Ultimate Spider-Man, Secret Avengers, New Mutants (well, I don't really recommend that one right now ...), and IDW's The Last Unicorn (yes, THAT one), which is beautiful.

I obviously like my superheroes, lol.

You kind of made me want to give the Angel series a new try. Just have to get through Armstrong's arc first...

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend skipping it, since Willingham's current arc is focused on Angel investigating the continuity errors she introduced :)
I'm still reading "Angel," but beyond that, I'm not really a fan of comic books. I'm currently reading "The Last Of The Breed," by Louis Lamour, and "Heat Wave," by Richard Castle, which is, of course, a tie in with Nathan Fillion's series, "Castle."

I'm still reading it, but I really don't like his characterizations or character voices, especially for Illyria, Spike, or Connor. And it's not that I dislike Willingham... Fables and Jack of Fables are two of my favorite comics series of all time... I just don't think he has a handle on these characters.

I also disagree pretty strenuously with his notions of Illyria's physiology. I thought it was made pretty clear she was not a female (or any gender) until she got Fred's body... and Fred's body had no thousand-year breeding cycle.

In terms of other monthly comics, I've been reading the newly relaunched Birds of Prey and Zatanna; Wonder Woman (which I'm probably dropping because they're rebooting it); Gotham City Sirens, Power Girl, DMZ, Doctor Who, The Boys, Conan, Red Sonja, The Goon (currently on hiatus), and a couple of obscure things.
 
I'm rereading Buffy S8 and discovering new things as I do it. I'm not a huge fan of comic books, only BtVS gets me to read them. 🙂
 
I started rereading runways from the beginning while out in the sun last week, and want to do a massive reread of all season 8 as I got got a bit distracted and was just reading them without taking them in from about half way through, lol.

See, I preferred his take on Connor. My only criticism is that he made him too much of a hero too fast. I've written a dozen posts panning Willingham's Spike, but come #34, I thought his Spike was pretty great (before he fell under the mojo anyway)

I completely agree here. Though I do think Connor makes the most sense as a choice. Angel & Spike are more-or-less sterile, and Gunn may be exceptional for a mortal, but he's still not a super-being.
 
I also just read Joss's one-shot Sugar Shock. Very cute and funny. I wish there was more of it.
 
I plan on reading all of Jane Austen's novels this summer. I'm on Pride and Prejudice right now. It's a lot harder to get through for me because I know the story so well (lets just say I own like 4 different versions of the story on DVD). I can't wait 'til I get to Emma and Persuasion! I love those stories!

I'm re-reading My Sister's Keeper, and I absolutely love Jodi Picoult's style of writing. She's fantastic! I'll look into Handle With Care.
