What are you reading, and what do you recomend.


Since I am an american history major I read all history books. I am reading "The Fall of Berlin" I think it's by Gilbert. GOOD book
 
I read a lot of books at once:

Sons of Dark #1
The Becoming (DotM #12)
Witches Night Out
Oracle Betrayed
Wicked Willow #2

I wouldn't recommend too many of those^ because it's sort of an aquired taste thing. But I would recommen the Abhorsen series by Garth Nix. It's a trilogy, very dark and spooky. But it's very good. Fantasy. I've read Sabriel(book #1) so many times.
 
I'm currently reading a Dean Koontz book, "One Door Away From Heaven." It took a bit to get into, but now it's really starting to pick up and get good.
 
I'm readdding a book called "Crossfire" by Jeanette Windle. it not relay that good. ( a friend told me about it). I read a lot of books when i think of a good one I'll post it...
 
at the moment i'm reading a book by Eva Joly(she is a norwegian woman, who went to france at age 20. she got married there, and studied law... later she bacame a judge. and that is what this book is about... her role in a very big case in france.. about the elf company. the original titel is; Est-ce dans ce monde-làƒ que nous voulons vivre ? in norwegian it's: er det en slik verden vi vil ha? the english translation would be: is this the kind of world we want? (i don't know if you read this Frenchyfaith, but if you do.. and if i've translated wrong... can you tell me the corect translation ? 🙂 ) it's very well written.. but i don't really know if it's in english(yet.)

i would recomend:
alice hoffman: the probable future(she paints the greatest pictures with words in that one...)
stephen king: the stand.
 
I'm reading Michael Moore's book..."help where's my country?" or something like that. So far it's not as good as "stupid white men" but I haven't got very far in it yet...
 
I was reading Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix, but my English class is making me read Dan Brown (which isn't so bad, it's just that I like to FINISH a book before starting a new one).
 
I'm reading "Tuesday's with Morrie" and "Where Are the Children." Not because I want to, but because it's required summer reading.

Dude, Where's my Country?

I read the Stupid White Men a while ago with my friend. I loved it. I thought it was so funny. I thought about getting his latest, but haven't yet.

Yeah, that's the one. I have it in Norwegian, so I just translated it directly.
Supid white men was hilarious, whenever it wasn't serious of course...
 
I'm reading The Fellowhip of the Ring (well re-reading), as well as Monster Island.
 
Just finished the Chaos Bleeds novelisation. A lot of the BVTS novels are very, very bad, and since CB was based on a game I expected it to be even worse. I'm still reeling from the discovery that its actually fairly good. Oddly enough, it dealt with Faith's reintegration with the Scoobies quite a bit more deftly than the series did.

I've gone back to finish Peter Straub's Ghost Story. It's good. A quaint little north American town has all this wierd stuff happen into it that all centres around a creepy young lady and her equally creepy companions. Nicely ratcheting up the tension and odd-factor, but it's nearly finished and it still feels like set up...

I just finished Chaos Bleeds as well...thought it was great also! I was really impressed. I like the game alot and it was just great reading it in a novelization.
 
It was nice, actually, to see a novelist who "got" Faith. They generally seem to just write her off as a 2D superslut with powers. I very much liked Kakisto's satisfying end in the book, because in the game that f**ker pasted me all over the quarry for about three weeks, and I nearly frisbeed the disc out a window as a result. Hardest boss in the whole thing by a longshot. But yeah, the book is quite good. Some of the Alterna-Sunnydale imagery is really nasty, even if the bit where they wait in the Hospital is a direct rip off from Silent Hill... (But hey, the MTV Movie awards ripped off SH, why not Buffy?)
 
I'm not reading anything at the moment but I have a pile of paperbacks building up to take on holiday with me including "Felaheen" by Jon Courtenay Grimwood (the third book in his Arabesk series), "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole (that's a re-read btw - one of the funniest books I've ever read) and the Bridget Jones books by Helen Fielding (a bit chick lit I know but they're supposed to be good).

I've read these books by Sophia Kinsella called Confessions of a Shopaholic (and Shopaholic takes Manhatten, and Shopaholic Ties the Knot) which are fantastic..and apparently if you liked Bridget Jones' Diary, you'll like them too!
