Not a big fan of his, but felt like showing him some love 🙂

Some of my favorite Xander moments:
The crayon speech in 'Grave' (he should get a brownie point or 2 for saving the world).

Complaining in 'Buffy Vs Dracula' that be deserves to be more than just 'the butt monkey that gets the funny syphillis '.

When he realized in 'The Zeppo' that he is basically the glue of the scobbies.
 
"I like the quiet."

"Can you believe the Watcher's Council let this guy go?"

"They're gonna cook her dinner?!... I'll pretend I didn't say that."

"A bitca?"

"This shall not please the Dark Master...bator."

Hitting Glory with the wrecking ball.

The speech he gives to Dawn in 'Potential' about being the one who's not chosen.

His ode to Buffy in 'Dirty Girls.'

The entire "What would Buffy do?" speech. You really got her back on track with that one, X-Man, good for you!

Making it to the halfway house. (I know how much @GwenRaiden loves this one 😀)

Punching out a clown. Being the first to conquer his fears in 'Nightmares'.

Getting Angel of his lazy ass in Prophecy Girl so they can both go and help Buffy. Noble and pragmatic.

Having the 'blow up the Judge with a rocket launcher' idea.

Going undercover as swim team guy in 'Go Fish', plus all the girl's reactions to it.

'Oh I'm up...I'm suddenly very up. It's just I've never been up with people befo-' Silenced by Faith's tongue.

Brandishing a cross at 'vampire' Willow and then shaking it when it doesn't work. 😀

'You're my hero' speech to Buffy in Season 4

His slow-mo slap-fight with Harmony

'I'm through being everybody's butt monkey!!' sadly not true but props for being very defiant about the whole thing.

Cool Xander in 'The Replacement' plus we finally get to see the Snoopy Dance.

Hitting Glory with a wrecking ball.

In Bargaining- The fact that he made a 'Willow is the boss of us' sign with sparkles on it. Cute.

His speech about Buffy in 'Dirty Girls' all the more moving because he wasn't even aware that Buffy was listening in.

Getting over Buffy and simply becoming her good friend. See vamps, it can be done. 😉
 
Buffy, I've gone through some fairly dark times in my life, faced some scary things, among them the kitchen at 'The Fabulous Ladies Night Club.' Let me tell you something, when it's dark and I'm all alone and I'm scared or freaked out or whatever, I always think, 'What would Buffy do?' You're my hero. OK, sometimes when it's dark and I'm all alone I think, 'What is Buffy wearing?'

It's kinda beautiful. What else? Remember when her rammed an actual god with a wrecking ball? Or when he rammed a demon with a car, saved Faith and then she rammed him? Or when he stood down Angelus. Or when he wanted to get himself a parrot less than 24 hours after losing an eye?

You know what, there's just too many.

Standing up to Angelus was really badass.
A lot of my favourites have been mentioned but I'll add a few more.

Buying Cordelia's prom dress. He saw an opportunity to make her happy and apologise and took it at great expense to himself. He never mentioned it or asked for anything back. It was a nice moment.

Saving all his loved ones in the school in The Zeppo and never mentioning it or asking for any thanks or credit.

Not a moment as such but I always admired the way he found a job that he actually enjoyed, worked his way up in the industry, bought a house and all the while kept up his role in saving the world. There's always a lot of talk about his immaturity but I'm not convinced by it.

Attempting to talk to the bullies in The Pack and getting them to leave the poor kid alone.

Saving both Giles and Cordelia from hostage situations. Running through flames for Cordelia and into a vampires lair for Giles.

I love everything about Xander. I love that he struggles with his masculinity. I love that his best friends are girls. I love that he never had a father figure that helped him achieve real manhood and had to rely on himself and experiences. I love that he was there to lift his friends’ spirits with a good speech or a joke. I love that he’s not afraid to voice his opinions. I love that he can be a jerk about it. I love that he was never taught to communicate his views the right way. I love that so many glimpses of his upbringing show up in almost every episode. I love that he figures out how to be a calmer person by S7. I love that he goes to therapy in S10. I love that he was Buffy’s second in command in S8. I love that Buffy and Willow are his only family. I love that Buffy is his hero. I love that Willow is his best man. I love that he was able to share his pain and experience of being ordinary with Dawn. I love that he longed for Giles to be his father figure but moved on when Giles didn’t seem interested. I love that he bought Cordelia her prom dress - using his road trip money (headcanon). I love his last words about Anya. I love that he’s the only one who mentions Oz Post-S4. I love that he lights Spike’s cigarette in Spiral. I love that he keeps Spike’s lighter. I love that he lost his virginity to Faith. I love that he thought they had a connection. I love how he forgets his emotional or physical pain at the sight of his friends’ distress. I love that he was undercover in Go Fish. I love Buffy and Willow’s reaction to seeing him in a Speedo. I love that he saved Buffy’s life so many times but fails to remember any of them. I love that he never told a soul about saving the world in the Zeppo. I love that he’s proud of himself for saving the world in S6 with his mouth instead of violence.

I love that there are tons of Xander fanfiction. I love that half of them he’s paired with Spike. I love that he comes second after Buffy as the most popular ficced character in Ao3.

I love Xander in every form, every age, every season, every good moment, every bad moment, every relationship. I have no objectivity when it comes to Xander. I love everything about him.

- 'And the Glorified Brick Layer, Pick's Up a Spare'
- The entire time Xander tells Willow that he loves her in S6 to basically save the world with love. (If you plan on re-watching that episode, try having 'Hero' by Skillet in the background during that part.)
- Xander's 'Joey' moment in Tabula Rasa when they all wake up and Xander looks at Willow, "Heyyyyy"
- Xander's speech to Dawn about being extraordinary.

I do like that moment in Tabula Rasa
Not a huge Xander fan, as you may have realised by now.

But, I like all his remembered army knowledge from being Mr. Army Guy in Halloween 2x06. That came in pretty handy throughout the series, and he played the soldier part very well.
 
I liked:
how he invited Willow to the dance as a last resort after Buffy turned him down.

his leaving Anya at the altar after getting cold feet.

how he manipulated Faith into wanting to kill Angel.

how he cheated on Cordy with Willow.

Those seemed all very true to character and realistic, and I think for the most part (aside -i hope- from the talking someone into killing someone else) most have experienced on one side of the spectrum or the other.

The Prom is one episode before Graduation, so obviously Xander saved up some money for his road trip by that time.

How did he save up the money. Where did it come from? If Cordy was working for weeks trying to pay off the dress and she still wouldn't be able to pay it off in time, where did all of Xander's money come from? It's never shown or mentioned, correct?
 
It's never mentioned. My guess would be that he spent his savings on it. Parents and relatives often put birthday and Christmas money into an account for children. Maybe some money from a paper round when he was younger. Something along those lines I would say.
 
  • When he said he felt bad for Spike, after the vampire got trashed by Glory;
  • When he accepted to leave the fight to take Dawn away from Sunnydale, because Bufy asked him to;
  • When he decided to look for professional help to deal with his anger issues (comics).

Well, the mystery is solved:

In the dress shop. Cordelia is leaving work.
Salesgirl: Hey! Don't forget your dress. Aren't you wearing it tonight?
Cordelia: As much as I hate to admit it, I haven't finished paying for it yet.
Salesgirl: Well somebody did.
Cordelia: What? Who? (looks at the receipt)

Xander didn't pay for the whole price. He just finished what Cordelia already started. As for the money he used, doing a cross-country road trip would require a lot of money, so as The Bronze said, Xander would have to save up whatever money thrown his way. Obviously after finishing paying for Cordelia's dress, he didn't have time to save up more money seeing as:

Xander: Basically, I got as far as Oxnard and the engine fell out of my car, and that was literally. So, I ended up washing dishes at 'The Fabulous Ladies Night Club' for about a month and a half while I tried to pay for the repairs.

I knew that. I said that.

I just don't really know I trust in the whole saving up for a cross-country road trip. It sorta goes against the whole On The Road vibe. But again, if Cordy was working and couldnt pay it off, I just always wanted to know where Xander got the money from. It's just a nitpick of mine.. none of them really 'worked' except when it was convenient to the script. But I have big issues with Friends as well (and many other sitcoms) and how they can afford to live where they do as well.

I honestly never thought about that. That's plausible but I just don't really see his parents as doing that either based on what we were shown of them. They seemed like the "it's 5lbs of veal" like Bill Murray's father from Scrooged to me.

Didn't he say at some point that he earned extra money working for uncle Rory? Or maybe I just assumed that. There's a lot of ways to get some money, but enough money for tuxes and dresses and cars. Idk.
