I don't usually make resolutions for a new year, but this time, I definitely will. How about you? What do you want for 2019?

As for me:

1. Cut out all of the crap I've been eating and start working out again. I felt SO much better when I was jogging everyday and eating well. My entire body used to be super toned, especially my abs. I miss that!!

2. Take care of my health. I've really been slacking in that department for the last two years.

3. Possibly find somewhere else to live. Not just because of some of the neighbours; I rent this place from my parents because it's really nice, AND they only charge me half the going price. Problem is, with that kind of arrangement, I'm kind of forced to communicate with them sometimes. That sucks.

Your turn. 😛

I never make resolutions either. But I will this year, I am a very competitive person so hopefully that will help me fulfil my goals.

1. Eat better! I really don't eat much at all, but the things I do eat aren't the healthiest.

2. Work out! I am always so into work and stressing out about that and family issues, that I neglect fitness. I just got myself a fitbit for my birthday and hopefully that will keep me going and more accountable if I see it like that.

3. Learn to communicate better honestly and calmly when I am aggravated. I tend to be nonconfrontational so I let things build and build, which is not healthy at all for me. So I need to just communicate in a nice way when something bothers me so that I can get it handled then instead of letting it snowball into something much bigger!

Yes, I also hold things in until I explode. It's kinda scary and NOT fun. 😟
I think I want to try a short vow of silence sometime next year. Too much therapy, I cant shut up about my problems, yet minimise them to sound insignificant and bitter. I need a muzzle, possibly moreso for my typing fingers.

I'd like a suitable job so I can get off disability. I am not depressed but it is depressing being a useless unemployed invalid. It sucks trying to try avoid the "what do you for a living" question. Its too hard to report and jump through their hoops so I just want to get out of the welfare system all together. If I was employed and self sufficent with society approved hair and clothing, there is far less chance of being institutionalised and tortured again.

The fitness resolutions depend on money. Im too disabled to work in exchange for ponies anymore, so I gotta pay for them and their care. I'd love a few lessons, even a comp or two. I might aim to climb a different mountain in Autumn.

I want to futher limit my social circle. I am easily pressured and do not want to end up in a relationship, no matter how hot his dreads are.

I am aiming to start aquaponics, so I have access to fresh food daily. Right now I grow a heap of food, and have too much at harvest, then nothing for weeks. It'd be nice to supply the community with fresh options. So far I've failed at this besides just swapping with the neighbours.

Lots of garden plans, all depend on income and ability.

I have another resolution. I would like to put myself out there more in the public and dating arena. I will not go into detail, don't worry. I haven't not been in a relationship in a looooooooooooooong time. Let's just say that I had an unhealthy and damaging relationship in my formative years with a much older man that still effects me to this day and do not feel comfortable around men. But I want to put myself out there now and at least be open to the possibility of trying to find a compatible man or woman to open up to and try to have a HEALTHY relationship. This post might seem awkward and I apologize, I don't normally speak of my past situations but I felt the urge to do it now. And if anyone thinks they might have had similar issues and would like to impart some advice, I would welcome it. So feel free to DM me or email me. Thanks for letting me share and again sorry if this is uncomfortable to read.

Best of luck! :)
I used to make a New Years resolution, I began with, I will not quit smoking this years and I was very successful for many years but then I failed. For years I also had the New Years resolution that I wouldn't die that year, but that got boring. This year I'm going to make the New Year resolution to get 100 Vampire Films now that could be fun.
I will also try to be healthier I want to double the number of abbs I have, I want two, one down to my belly button and one abb below. I've given up with the prospect of a six pack.

I did 10 days of silence this year and it was amazing! 8 days of it was free of all interaction including social media/phone/communication and then I did the last 2 days communicating only via text. Super amazing and enlightening.

Good on ya! I duno how I would cope without the typing, BB is really the only social media I do nowdays.
Do more
Eat less
Spend less.

I say it every year I want to do more, and I usually start off well, but fall back into the habit of just sitting on the computer. I have done less reading this year, and less crafting, or maybe it's just taken me longer to make a scarf that it does for other craft projects, but it feels like I've done less this year.

Eat less crap, get eating the foods that are good for me.

Spend less, I seem to spend so much money and yet no idea on what, obviously I have bills to pay but where does the assigned spending money go, I need to keep track of my money if I 'm going to buy a place next year.

you've read heaps this year! judging by the titles you've told me :D
@HoppyHippy I've started more than I've finished! I've only finished 13 books this year, got two on the go that I should finish by the end of the year, but I usually read over 20 in a year, I've really been slacking.

How is it even possible to have days of silence? I just cant imagine ever being able to do that. Blows my mind.

I brought up the topic of a silent retreat years ago with my therapist, who said it was a bad idea and silence causes psychosis. My argument that monks and nuns are not psychotic was met with a hospital admission. Since those doctors were so wrong about so much, I defo want to try the silence. It doesn't have to be forever. I have a very busy mind, and I enjoy meditation. I can go days without seeing people if I stay in the private yard rather than the garden, and I rarely see people on my walks. It'd be easier if I was in a city though, as everyone knows my name here. The buns would be confused, they know words.

I wouldn't mind going on a retreat, maybe for a weekend. I know that I couldn't do a silence at home I would get too distracted, although I do some meditative stuff when I can.

But like how can you work, go grocery shopping, etc if you aren't talking? Just seems odd to me to go days without talking. Unless of course it is a retreat type thing; normal day-to-day I think it would be next to impossible. Unless you never left the house.

Yeah I would have to go away, I couldn't stay home or work

You've never been to Sweden, I see. 😛

Interesting. I can see how a prolonged stay in one of those kind of sensory deprivation situations could cause a psychosis, unless you train yourself to be able to handle it. But silence? I think more people need to practice just being in silence. Silent reflection is the stuff sanity is made of. I hope you get around to doing some silent retreat or the like, it sounds very interesting.

I didn't think your people were much into verbal linguistics anyway. You just get by with a series of grunts, groans, snarls and the occasion "sun! sun! there's the sun!" and cower in the corner like monkeys witnessing that big black obelisk for the first time.

Surprisingly accurate.

Writing notes worked for my deaf friends. I bet there is an app for text to talk nowdays. How'd you cope @caitaintdead ? If I stock up on a city shopping trip, then I dont need to shop, or leave the house and I dont work right now. Might as well try while I have the chance.

They did this on Big Brother AU once. The White room. It was stopped because professionals said it was a form of psychological torture. At least those housemates had clothes, beds, other people and could chose to leave at anytime. Mental health patients in solitary/locked wards do not have those comforts or choices.

But silence? I think more people need to practice just being in silence. Silent reflection is the stuff sanity is made of. I hope you get around to doing some silent retreat or the like, it sounds very interesting.

I love the silence of the bush and the beach. Its so easy to sit with. I've never understood why people taint it with itunes. Deep karri forest silence is different, like the trees are obsorbing and sucking the vibrations from the air. It would be eerie if not for the birds.

At home, I only vocalise for the rabbits, or singing while cooking (sometimes prayer when I am sick), so it wouldn't be a big stretch for me. To cease typing, on the other hand, would be. I chat daily to ex- BBers, and visits here are more frequent since the insta feed of dead bunnies.

My new year resolution is to try and get my like count to at least match my post count. That's about it really. Other stuff is more a case of if it happens it happens, if doesn't it doesn't.

There you go ;)
1. I need to organize. I've got lots of organization. I just can't remember where I left it.

2. I need to learn how to make a protein shake. Mine start out as protein shakes but somehow end up as margaritas.

3. I need to get a part time job, maybe writing.

2. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Margaritas sounds like a win to me! ;)

I wasn't working so didn't need to worry about that. I was mostly stocked up on food and cigarettes, and the couple of times I went to get milk and veggies I went through self serve so I could avoid people.

I was quite content and it was great for me after having a very difficult year full of far too much interaction. I read and meditated and had really long walks and did some yoga. It was like a cheap version of a retreat.

I have found that being around people is really detrimental to my mental health. I somehow suck up all their energy and have to work hard to sever the ties to them. After having my body physically taken from me it felt like I had to work really hard to try and balance out the damage done.

It was interesting though that none of my family or friends heard from me for 8 days yet no one was worried or noticed I was off the grid. If I slipped and fell getting out the shower and died I would have stayed there until the neighbours complained about the stench or the locksmith came to change the locks after I neglected to pay rent.
