Hm. Pet peeves...

On BB, my number one pet peeve is people who don't use proper spelling/grammar/punctuation and such in their writing. If English isn't their native language, then I'll let it go, but if you're just being lazy and or ignorant of the English Language? I find it nearly impossible to take anything that the person writes seriously, they sound like an uneducated fourth grader... I mean, this isn't AIM, the only way to judge someone here is by their writing and opinions. Write well, make yourself sound intelligent! It's not hard people, really, it isn't.

Other than that... In normal life, little kids. With their screaming and incompetence, and the parents who are oh-so-ignorant of the little beasts... Grr. I don't like kids. 😀 I'd never have children myself, they're so expensive, and so darn annoying... (sw)

On extension, "kids" my own age (middle school) annoy me as well. They're so, and I'm using this word a lot, ignorant! I don't stand for ignorance. Most of them are always flinging 'insults' like "Gay", "Lesbo", "Homo", "Retarded", and things like that around. Seriously?? They should stop being so close-minded, bigoted, and all-round idiotic and discriminatory! Retarded people go through more than those ignorant little beasties could ever imagine, which they would realize if they ever learned how to read in order to enjoy the novel "Flowers For Algernon". And I really don't see how homosexuality is an insult, it's a valid lifestyle. And I don't see why the kids should even care what gender somebody prefers, it has NO effect whatsoever on their life. It's just rude and offensive, and it makes them look like uneducated sheep. (Lol, Harmony, anyone?) It's also annoying how they're always saying how they don't care about school or tests or homework... I mean, honestly, do they WANT to be working at McDonald's full-time? I don't know about you guys, but I'm planning on being a biologist and making big bucks (I'll be the boss). (sw)

I hate racist people, sexist people, and other -ist people. 😀

I really dislike it when people, specifically adults and teachers, try to get in my life or act like they know me. Why? 'Cause they don't. 😀

I don't like how my grandparents are always telling me what to do. Like, my dad will walk in the room. She'll say "Hug your father." So I'll have to do it. It's so stupid; I'm obviously not hugging him because I want to, it's because I'm forced to. Or telling me to say goodbye to someone, or something like that.

I don't like country music.

Crazy religious people never fail to get on my nerves.

I hate it when people "Need" somebody else. Especially in songs and such, when they're always singing about how they can't live/breath without this person, and they're nothing without this person, and stuff such as that. I can honestly say that I've never met one person that I couldn't live without; I'm my own person, and I don't need anybody to complete me. I'm quite complete all by myself, thanks. I find it to be pathetic, being so dependent on somebody like that. People need to get a life and take care of themselves. You're the only person that you'll always have to be with, so put yourself first. Never compromise your own happiness.

It REALLY annoys me when people try to boss me around. I used to be a real pushover and people were always taking advantage of me. Yeah, well, not anymore. I developed a new sense of independence and love for myself this year, and I now easily stand up for myself and what I believe in. I may have less friends, but whatever. The friends that I do have are the ones that are worth having. 🙂

Anyway, in conclusion, I get annoyed by ignorance, stupidity, when people think that they can push me around ('Cause they can't), and people who I don't like that seem to think that I DO like them. Hm.

😀

"I hate it when people "Need" somebody else." world of agreement to the entire frickin' paragraph! I never fail to be amazed by the opinions you hold, especially at such a young age!

I very much agree with the kids part... especially the ignorant parents bit. No it's not CUTE if your child kicks me okay?
lol U R 2 much wtf is wr0nngz wit AIM ta1kz :-( brb (just messing with you)...Everything you basically said bothers me too in one way or the other...especially the country music part lol

One of my biggest annoyances is people that state things as fact when they in reality is just guessing.
If you don't know or just are a bit uncertain of something then please tell me that.

Oh, and organized "fun" is the worst.
Don't need anyone to tell me when and how to have a fun. I can decide that for myself thank you!

kudoes on "guessing". i hate that! if you don't know something well enough to defend your opinion, either hush up or learn something!
I hate people who stop as soon as they walk out of a shop door, at the top of escalators or in the middle of the pavement. I hate bad losers, but I hate bad winners more.

When people refer to Great Britain or the United Kingdom as just "England" because, um, it's not.

When people constantly ask me the same question over and over again, in hopes that I'll come around to their way of thinking. I'm not you! Asking me a week later doesn't change my opinion!
I also hate when people ask questions when there's a really obvious answer staring them in the face. My neice does it a lot. She'll ask "What're you eating?" when quite clearly I'm eating a sandwich, a packet of crisps or something equally as obvious.

Stereotypes and judging in general.

My neice does that too! It drives me INSANE. I've stopped answering when she does this.
I can't stand arrogant "I'm the prettiest person in the world" people or people who say they're fat/ugly whatever, and you're supposed to say: "No, you're really thin/beautiful..."
I also can't stand people who always seem bored, like nothing can make them happy and they hate everything. Maybe that's weird, but I can't stand it.
And yes, crazy religious people can get on my nerves too.
Or hypocrites. People who tell you not to do something because it's wrong, and then do it theirselves.
And one of the most stupid things: people who eat with noise 😛

Actually I'm annoyed by a lot of things. This list could be much longer (sw)

woah I have so many pet peeves - people who chew loudly,
people who walk slowly!! (if you're under 40 there's no need to saunter along as if you've just had a double hip-replacement),
people who whistle,
hypocrites
and oh yeah, people who STOP right in front of an escalator (preferrably during rush hour, causing mayhem and nothing less behind them but seeming completely oblivious to this!)
cutesy-wootsy couples who thinks it's socially acceptable to sit and oogle each other in public or love-bomb each other on Facebook just so the rest of the world will know that they love each other (cause baby talk really equals love... hrmph)

hehe I could go on but I think I'll save you from that terror ;P

F
Fake Shemp
Big LOL at the hip replacement thing
Yeah people who chew loudly really annoys the crap outta me. People who bang into you when your out food shopping and they just look at you without saying sorry then i'm the one that always says sorry even though they're the ones who banged into me. :S LOL.

This is annoying, but so is the opposite behaviour - when people think that if you're not absolutely certain of something, then you can't have good reasons to think it's more likely than the alternatives and doing so is just a guess or a leap of faith (this is most likely to come up if you're talking about religion, but I've seen people using this fallacy in other contexts as well).

Other things:

Small, yappy dogs.

People who breathe heavily and/or chew noisily. I know in many cases they can't help it, but it still irritates me.

People using "how are you?" or similar as a greeting when they don't actually want you to answer that.

People thinking that consensual and/or harmless activities should be illegal because they happen to find them disgusting. Similarly, people thinking that breaking the law is inherently wrong.

Expressions like "man up" or "be a man" - I guess the "more masculine=better" implication just rubs me the wrong way.

I also share some of the peeves already listed, like children (I am so never having any), "organised fun", and people using "gay" as an insult (seriously, I know people who don't otherwise seem homophobic at all, get along fine with their gay friends, and still do this - I don't get it).

agreeing with the "how are you" phonies, don't ask if ya don't wanna know
F
Fake Shemp
agree with the masculine somehow equals better, and negative is associated with females... erm no, also agree on the small talk of "how are you?" "alright?" but dont want an answer, or an answer other than "yeah, you?"
I'm really annoyed by the way some look down on people who do the basic service jobs in our society.

oh I agree, I always greet the custodian at our building and he gets so happy. He's a really nice man but the fact that just being cordial and saying hello to him shocks him makes me wonder how my neighbors treat him :S

I don't think I have a lot of pet peeves, but the ones I do have will drive me bonkers sometimes :silly: The main ones I could think of are....

- People not saying please/thank you. Maybe this is from working in customer service, but I don't see any good reason to neglect good manners like that. It's a quick thing to say and it can go a long way towards how others perceive you.

- When someone leaves the Juice/Milk Jug in the fridge with about a teaspoon of milk/juice left in it.

- "Kewl" talk in excess, or lack of any sort of grammar/spelling (obviously an online pet peeve)

- When folks actually say a short-form (ie: "O.M.G" or "B.F.F.") instead of using the full word, while speaking. A lot of teenagers that I know have started doing this and it drives me absolutely crazy!

- Not picking up trash, littering

- Someone starting a conversation with me during a TV Show/Movie

E
Evil Limo
Agree on the littering, especially when there is a trash can in sight!

yes littering! (I'm that scary lady who lectures children I don't know about it)

YES! it takes piddle all to be polite, and it can REALLY make a diffrence! and LOL at the last, so agree, i will hurt you if the show is not on the computer, recorded or i own it... if its on tv i will bring out the VH God powers and smite ya.
I don't like country music.
😀

You and I can no longer be friends. :tongue3: Country Rock is my favorite kind of music, and I'm listening to Steve Carlson belt his little country heart out as I type this. So much love for this man, lol.

I'm a very open minded person, so it really bothers me when people are ignorant towards the LGBT community, or are overtly racist or sectarian. I can't stand people who look down on someone for being different.

Anyone who dismisses someone else's opinion because it doesn't match their own needs to get away from me FAST. I won't stand for that.

People who dismiss people for being disabled. Having recently found out that I am, in fact, legally disabled, although you wouldn't know it to look at me, I find that I'm growing increasingly annoyed and angry at this sort of behavior.

People who think they're better than others just because they have money or a better job. That doesn't make you better, than makes you lucky, jackass.

I can't stand it when people tell me I'm going to go to hell for being Atheist. Newsflash, moron, I don't believe in hell!

snap, love country/folk music and oh yeah how are we going to your made up place? heh
I hate the waiter who tells me, "Well, sir, you realize that cooking a steak well done will dry it out," as though I haven't been eating my steaks well done for as long as I have had teeth.

People who, at the end of a concert/meeting/church service/movie or whatever, stop to chat in the doorway, blocking the exit for people who are trying to get out.

People who have already seen a movie before, and keep saying, "Now watch this. He's gonna..." throughout the entire show.

People who think that it is for some reason entertaining to watch two dogs, roosters, or any other animals, fight and possibly kill each other.

People who continue to argue with me, even though I KNOW that I'm right all along. They're just being plain ol' stubborn.

movie spoiling peeps agree, just chut up and watchit already... or people who ask things about the movie all the way through if they aint seen it but you have, hello? i dont wanna spoil it for you... just watch it already! :D
Arrogance. I don't care if you are Kanye West or Ms. Saved the Rainforest, I hear you boast about the awesomeness of you in any way and I will have to kill you. Simple as that. Be confident about your abilities but could you do it really quietly? No matter how fantastic you are at something there is something else that you are equally crap at and that crapness should keep you humble.

Cracking knuckles, actually, cracking joints of any kind. I visibly flinch everytime I hear it and if it gets really bad I am not above putting my hands over my hears and "La la la-ing" until the cracker in question stops. My friends all know about this and one in particular has taken it upon himself to sneak up behind me at every given opportunity and crack his WRIST in my ear. The last time he it did I beat him up.

People who lean back in their seats during long-haul flights when you are sitting in economy/coach. I firmly believe there is a special level of Hell reserved for these people.

Lmao, I never knew this thread isn't about pet. My bad English. 😛 I'm sure I love this thread. 😀

I hate people that judge people from the looks. Grrrgh. I hate when you haven't met someone for a while and when they see you, they say "Hey, you look fatter." That's so rude even it's kidding or not.

Close minded people, especially about sexual orientation.

Racist.

People that make a sound when they eat soup. "Suuuuud"

People that look at your laptop to see what you're doing. It's so annoying. Sometimes I'm talking to my mom or my friends and I want it to be private.

People who like to compare themselves to other people that are worse than them to feel better about themselves. Duh!

Selfish people. Period.

What pet peeve will I be punching you for? I like to be prepared 😛

LOL Kean!!
I have quite a few pet peeves but the bad thing is that most of them fits me one time or another. So I'll end up hating my own behavior. Sounds great don't you think? 😉

People that look at your laptop to see what you're doing. It's so annoying.
THIS! This over and over again. This really is the one thing that I will seriously get pissed about. I hate people seeing what I'm doing online in general, because I'm mostly on forums and talking to friends on MSN. If I'm just on general sites or last.fm I don't mind at all, because it's not a community I'm a part of, whereas with forums it is a community I get involved with and I like to keep that to myself. This bugged me so much that I've actually turned my computer desk around so that I sit in the corner with my computer in front of me to stop people seeing what I'm doing. It's probably not very healthy.

Aww *hugs* It's exactly like what you said. I wish I can turn my desk too. But I can't. T_T

Argh, one of the biggest ways my gran went on my nerves with back when I lived with her. XD

Add to that saying "lol" in spoken language. "lol" is not a word, people! Try "ha, ha", or "that's so funny" (even if the latter one might cost you your relationship, if you happen to be dating Dr John Dorian. 😀)

words are added to dif peeps language all the time, and i know people who do say LOL as they are laughing, cause they're online all the time, so its in their language now.
