What are your pet peeves?

Answering the phone and having someone on the other end begin with "Hello, who's speaking?"

That one extra sock that's left over when you fold the laundry.

Finding the other sock still in the hamper after you get mad and throw the first one away.

Having the phone ring in the middle of the night, interrupting that GREAT dream that I was having concerning me, Vampirella, and a tropical island, by some drunk who wants to know if Harry is there.

Ever seen the Pierce Brosnany movie "After the Sunset"? I'm like him answering the phone -- *ring* "State your business".

someone rings you for the first time... "Hello." "hello?" and they say their name like you were meant to know who it was... some peeps's phoen voices sound nothing like then irl
TheGrandmaster agrees: Damn, if we ever met in real life you would probably punch me in the face ;D

What pet peeve will I be punching you for? I like to be prepared 😛

Pretty much all them.
It has been said that I'm arrogant, although I would argue that I'm just confident.
I just checked, I can click/crack my fingers, my thumbs, my neck, my knees, my ankles and some of my toes. I take issue with you finding this annoying, sometimes you've just got to do it, it feels wrong if you don't. Maybe you won't understand if it doesn't happen to you.
And yes, any seat that reclines I will recline as far as it will possibly go, basically just because I can 😀
Hey, that's just the way I am 😀

Right, I've just added you to my list of enemies.

Well...I am happy I read this thread cause initially I thought it was about pets...as in animals we have in our house...! Forgive me people!!!:biggrin3: So we are talking about things which irritate us,right?

Well, I don't like people who never smile and think it's silly that there are people who actually laugh and smile and are happy because they tell jokes!

When your classmates steal answers from other people and then they act like it was their idea in the first place.(this happens a lot to one of my friends...I feel sorry for her cause she knows so much stuff). At least be honest and admit that you didn't know it in the first place!!!

When people laugh at you because you say a phrase they don't understand or they don't understand you in general.

I hate it when people underestimate me or others. You never know what a person is capable of.

I hate it when people are so antagonistic...so competitive. For example, when they check other people's grades(in Uni other grades can be seen in public in lessons) and make comments or comparisons.

Oh and WISHING OCEANS what you said about grandparents is sooo true!!! My grandmother always says: Did you say hello to that person(whoever is in the room)? .

And about kids...I am mostly bothered by their parents who sometimes seem not to care about anything their kids do...for example yell for like 3 or 4 hours all the time!!!

On BB, my pet peeves are when people use kewl speak or bad grammar intentionally... It doesn't take that much effort to properly spell or write out a word, folks. Also, people who think their opinion is right no matter what and put down others who don't agree. We don't have much of this going on anymore, thank God, but we used to and it got on my nerves bad enough to make me stop coming around so much there for a while.

In everyday life, my pet peeves are:
People who scrape their teeth across their silverware when they eat. OMG, the sound drives me up the wall!
Bigots, racists, homophobes, and close-minded people. I absolutely cannot stand people who think someone is "wrong" or below them because of their race, religion, class, orientation, etc. People who discriminate against others and bash them because of who they are make me want to punch them in the face.
People who think that if a woman curses, she's trashy. Excuse the hell outta me, but I am a lady, and that doesn't change just because I drop the F bomb.
People that look down on people with a Southern accent in the States. Just because I talk with a twang doesn't mean I'm stupid.
People who act like something they're not. IE, preppy boys who try to act thug, or smart people who try to act ditzy. Whether it's just to make people like you more or laugh or whatever, it's not cool.
Big people who dress in clothing that's about 3 sizes too tight. OMG. There is nothing nastier than seeing a girl who should be a size 24 trying to make a pair of size 18 pants work for her. Uh-uh, not cool.
People who don't discipline their children. I absolutely hate when I'm in a store and a child is screaming and acting a'fool and their parent does NOTHING to try to make them stop! That's why kids today have no respect for adults!

I think that's about it...

I think a bit of Southern accent is sexy in a woman. (and not saying that to chat you up. ^^ )

oh dear, the silverware scraping across teeth bugs me too!
People who are so uptight, it drives me crazy! They can't take a joke at all. I'm really silly and love to goof around (not that I can't be serious) but if you're always mad and just upset all the time, it drives me up the wall!

Also, like HisMrs said; people who think they're right and are rude to others who have a different opinion than they do.

I hate people who are so uptight and can't take a joke too. :p
What are your pet peeves

First off people who chew with their mouth open (I don't care how backward you are in table manners you should be able to chew with your mouth closed)

People who don't use a napkin when they are eating. I once went out with a guy who didn't wipe his mouth until he was finished eating the meal.

Anyone who doesn't know the meaning of a closed door. A closed door means "Stay Out" plain and simple.

People who think that just because a book is a paperback that gives them the right to treat it as badly as possible. I once loaned a co-worker a book that was in good condition and she returned it taped up and filthy.

Is it allowed to knock on a closed door or is that just a sign of not getting the hint?
People who complain all the time. There's this other forum I've been wanting to join in another fandom and I just decided not to because instead of talking about their love for the show, they constantly bash it and fight with each other.

Just makes me appreciate Buffy-Boards a million times more.

Overweight children. It's so depressing to see kids that are overweight cause you know it's not their fault. At my old job I had to help a lady who had her 5 or 6 year old daughter with her, and this poor little girl was extremely overweight and had pimples. Pimples! On a 6 year old! And to top it off she was eating a bag of chips that I'm sure her mother gave her to keep her quiet. Great parenting.

I despise people who are rude and disrespectful to the elderly.

Also, it bothers me when elderly people are rude to younger people cause they assume we're all disrespectful.

Any form of animal abuse.

To Washburne: Knocking of course is the polite thing to do. If someone's door is shut all the way I don't open it to enter unless I have permission to and only after I knock. I stay for days sometimes at another location and my room mates enter my room despite the fact that my door is shut. Just because I am gone shouldn't mean that they can enter my room if they feel like it. Hope this clarifies things.

At least if you are older than three years old. It takes a while before it is anatomically possible.

didn't word my post right. By anyone I meant anyone over the age of 3 but most particularly anyone in their 20's or older.

Nobody annoys me more than morons who think that they're oh-so-marvelous in every way, and, because of that delusion, continue to prattle on and on and are totally wrong in every way. It's even worse when they blatantly refuse to admit that they're wrong. 😀

For example, a couple of days ago I was looking over my "friend"'s math homework, which was on surface area, ergo, she had to use pi. The problem was similar to this: Surface area= Pi x 5 x 23. So she first multiplied pi and five together, then, as her answer, multiplied the product of five and pi and 23. So I told her that on the state tests they only want you to round once, and she clearly rounded her problem twice. But when I told her, she persisted that she had only rounded once. But, as we all know, she was using pi, which goes on infinitely, so only rounding once was IMPOSSIBLE! Gr. It's really hard to not punch that "friend" in the nose. 😀

Another thing that annoys me: When somebody complains and complains about something (I.e., "Oh, I'm so fat!", "Oh, I get such bad grades, I'm so stupid!"), yet doesn't do anything proactive to fix it. If you're unhappy with the way that you look, then either get over looks and start caring about your personality, or start exercising/dieting. Nobody wants to listen to a lazy whiner. If you get bad grades, then study more and get help, for god's sake. It's not that difficult.

People who refuse to listen to logic and reason.

Wanna-be-gangsters (or actual gangsters) that wear their pants on the ground. It's really quite unflattering.

When people in the hallways at school walk really slowly right in front of me so I can't get by.

When people can't differentiate between "Affect"/"Effect", "Their"/"There"/"They're", "Bear"/"Bare", and all the other commonly misused words. I really don't see why some people have so much trouble with spelling and grammar; seems pretty simple to me. 🙂

Also, people who don't understand how to use contractions get on my nerves.

Ah, could I forget? The infamous "Alot". Guys, "Alot" is NOT a word. It's "A lot". It has a SPACE. Really not hard to understand.

I really don't see why some people have so much trouble with spelling and grammar; seems pretty simple to me. 🙂

I'm glad it's simple to you, but I have no trouble understanding why some have problems with it. Just because something is easy for you it doesn't have to be it for everyone. But at the same time a lot of people just don't make an effort. Can sometimes be difficult to know which one is the case.

I do a lot of mistakes but I hope I can be forgiven, at least to a degree, since english isn't my native language. I do notice that I make a lot more errors when I'm tired or not really concentrated.

I'm sure there's someone out there who thinks spelling pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism is simple and easy too 😉
Doesn't mean everyone knows how to spell it though 😛

People who dismiss people for being disabled. Having recently found out that I am, in fact, legally disabled, although you wouldn't know it to look at me, I find that I'm growing increasingly annoyed and angry at this sort of behavior.

People who think they're better than others just because they have money or a better job. That doesn't make you better, than makes you lucky, jackass.

Totally agree with these. I'm legally disabled too and again you wouldnt know it to look at me. Heaps of people think ya just putting it on and should get over it etc because they cant see it. They dont know what it is like so they should stfu and stop being so judgemental and close minded.

I work with disabled people too and it shites me that others will completely ignore a person in a wheel chair, or a child with downs. We are all people, all with feelings and thoughts of our own. How would you like it if someone ignored you for wearing glasses? Think before you dismiss someone, its not hard.

I remember kids in school looking down and teasing the cleaners, I dont see (or just dont know) many people doing that now days. 'Unskilled' workers are making a hell of a lot more money than most here, I know Lawyers who cant afford to go out on weekends while the people who are in a trade or work on the mines have their own homes, cars, boats... You're not any less of a person if you dont wear a suit to work. I cant stand the incredible snobbery of todays society.
