Question What BIG BAD scares you?

Many of the major villains from both shows have their scary component, so I agree with many of the posts above. I also agree deeply with the others about Wolfram and Hart. They work from the shadows, and they feel like a many headed hydra whereupon cutting of one head only means another two take its place. You never feel like you're making any progress with them (in 5 seasons Angel arguably made no progress with them, arguably even after killing the black thorn circle); they are all-powerful enough that others fight their fights for them, sometimes frighteningly powerful people in their own right.
 
Der Kinderstod and the Gnarl for me. Way beyond creepy physically and what they do to their victims. It's creepy that only children can see Der Kinderstod so others can't see to help them. As far as big bads go, Angelus is disturbing and creepy with his methods of evil and Drusilla can be scary with her unpredictable insanity and joy at causing destruction and death. That scene where she kills Shelia in School Hard and tells Miss Edith she doesn't get to watch her kill her with the rest of the dolls still creeps me out to this day.
"If you'd been good, you could watch with the rest." Super creepy lol.

The first evil was also scary at first when it appeared to Willow as Cassie and was pretending to speak on Tara's behalf and then disappeared with that smile. But after that it slowly lost its effectiveness over the season.
